Now we just need someone to find the original tapes of The Animated Series... D'oh! (No seriously, I'm full up!)
MY pet peeve is that people don't talk about the good stuff when a score comes out. When something as good as Star Trek, or Eiger Sanction, or Close Encounters comes out those discussions should go on for a lot longer than they do.
Is it only "dancing about architecture" when it's good?

Never understood that mentality either. While it's good and great to have wishes and desires, why not spend a few minutes cherishing whatever is put out, or at the very least talk about it (its pros and cons as a score, presentation, what-have-you) before moving on to the next?

I sympathize with (and on a certain level share) you frustration with the “we need” crowd. It’s like the kid on Christmas morning who’s unwrapped his Han Solo, Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker action figures, as well as his toy X-Wing, and then says “But I need the Death Star play set!”
Personally, I have pretty-much all the music I want at this point. Sure, I'd love an expanded, remastered Witches of Eastwick and Jesus of Nazareth and for the original master tapes of Sinful Davy to turn-up, but otherwise I'm pretty satisfied.
That said, concerning you comment “We need food, shelter, companionship. We need a Leonard Rosenman CD—really?”, I’m reminded of that line from Dead Poets’ Society: “Medicine, law, business, engineering, these are all noble pursuits, and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.”

People rarely post to say:
"What I received met my expectations!"
After all, how exciting is that?
But it is important to remember that the final product we hold in our hands is the result of many hours of painstaking restoration work, R&D, and negotiations. Sure, the fact that it sells and some dollars are made on the end result is one kind of reward, but in some ways a public expression of appreciation (or pure enjoyment) is far more satisfying.

Now we need a blog article about people's expectations.

Then there are those who never even give a thought to the business realities of putting out some of these soundtracks. They are happy to point out flaws, bitch about what "should" have been on the release but wasn't, or make demands on what they'd like to see next. Some just seem totally disconnected from reality, demanding that some label is put in all the cash and man hours to create a release only twelve people will buy.
My response would be, sure, you put up all the cash and we'll do it.

The only think I thought about , when I read the blog was, I wish there still were FSM cd's to look forward too. Those were great times!

I think it's an early phase of our fan boys mode and sure enough we all simmer down and smell the coffee. It happens. But I'm sure it's irritating for the producers who would rather want to hear about what the fans actually react to this new release which they (us?) wanted all along.
I've heard this disappointment from Mike Matessino, Neil S Bulk, Roger Figelson, MV Gerhard etc. Let's enjoy what we got and how we go it made. That's more important for now. This is the reason why I love getting into podcasts, articles, past reviews, interviews on a new expansion or release because of the heavy excitement that goes with it. It's a whole new interactive experience and if you can be part of it in an online experience then that is special. Like I got into a podcast with Jim Bowers Superman Caped Wonder when the new LLL Superman set came along. That was fun. So, be a part of the fun and enjoy the party until the next invitation comes.
Yes to all of this!
