One of the most incredibly sensual scores that forces me to watch the film at least twice a year is M. Jarre's The Year Of Living Dangerously. There is something powerful in the electronic scoring that pulls me into it and the old LP presentation does the same thing from the standalone listening experience. Point is that there are moments in TPOTD where I'm likewise pulled in. It stunned me during the 1st viewing and the 2nd confirmed it. The composer most certainly has my attention and respect.
I'd rather listen to Greenwood than any Marvel score or any Star Wars score written in the last 40 years. Just my preference.
Yeah, same here. I think that the Greenwood hype is way overdone though - i'm far from his biggest fan, but there is no doubt that he has written some of the most interesting scores in recent years since his big break with There Will Be Blood.
It's a pretty good score (as were all of Greenwood's last year), but I wouldn't call it a milestone. Clever way to draw attention to your own website with that headline, though, Conrado, and welcome!
I suppose for me, I often have a problem connecting to the emotionally detached, "dry" approach that Greenwood employs wherein everything that even hints at a more melodic or engrossing soundscape is always undermined by some effect.
Perhaps the first and only time I've agreed with Thor.
