I really like so much of his stuff. I extracted an entire CD of wonderful--mainly instrumental--stuff from his Something Big box.
Saw him live in 70 or 71 at the Muny Opera in St. Louis. The opening band had a girl drummer/vocalist and were fairly unknown at the time--The Carpenters.

One of the last true musical geniuses of our time (or a different time, rather).
I just love his music - albeit only in instrumental form - I could never stand his original sung versions.
I prefer LPs like "Ron Goodwin & his Orchestra play Bacharach" (just superb) and Ronnie Aldrichs "Phase 4 World of BB" (equally timeless).
BTW: Are you aware that the name Bacharach (like so many American names) refers to the German town of Bacharach on the River Rhine (pop. 2034) (famous for its wine)? (rhyme by accident! :-))
