Have always been quite fond of this one. (Film too)

Probably not a bunch of material missing from the Varese release?

Any other fans out there?

Graham

Count me as a fan of this one.

Not at all complex; the piano motif is a Horner staple but its used so hypnotically here. Absolutely love the sax/EWI work on this one.

I generally love Horner's minimalist mode because he, like no one else, knew how to dial it back and still make it all work. There's always something to get lost in for me.

Here's the flipside to EXTREME MAKE-UP, which I just posted about, but even better and more interesting. Love the synths, the sax, the piano. Some of it sounds like the buildup in a Toto song. Again one I haven't played in years and years. Perfectly curated at 33 minutes (perhaps that's even the whole score, I don't know).

Great great score (am I hearing Charles Gross' Country somewhere in the score ? smile )

Let's not forget Class Action is a very good film too.

I got so excited to see this thread and so let down to see I’d already given my thoughts. Oh well.

Bump to say my thoughts are as true today as when I wrote them.

I also just realized director Michael Apted passed away in 2021, age 79. No cause of death given. What a shame, he had some pretty decent films on his resume, and some strong scores and composers attached to them.

I like this score a lot, except "quiet" and contemplative James Horner, indeef one of my favorites.
Haven't seen the movie since it came out, but back then I enjoyed it.
