I don't remember, but were there riots when Robert Downey played the white guy playing a black guy in 2008 when the movie was released? Could this movie be released in this day and age without people losing their minds? I guess times have truly changed. And the fake trailer above that was in the movie. Amazing. Bravo to Stiller for making the movie when parody/satire was still accepted and funny was funny and a sense of humor was not anything but. I weep for world of today. If I have offended anyone here I will gladly delete.
Getting back to the Conti Cue. It was played at the Oscar Sequence when RDJ announced TROPIC THUNDER winning. Did Conti have a cameo playing himself (The Stick-Man) conducting at the Oscars? That would have been cool. So I guess Bill Conti wrote the "Theme from TROPIC THUNDER" as when a film wins at the Oscars the Theme from the movie is played as winners are announced and go up to accept their awards.
Check out the companion TROPIC THUNDER thread on Non-Film Score Discussion side of board for Robert Downey Jr. talking about doing the film in 2020 or in this day and age.
There wasn't. This is ridiculous! It's 100 % Shapiro.
Nope, track 22 on the score album is by Conti.
No it's not. It is only the track title. The CD does not indicate anywhere that it was composed by Conti - all music composed by Theodore Shapiro (as already clarified the title is because it is a scene at the Oscars).

The public, who understand a joke is a joke, would hopefully respond just as they did back then but I suspect studio execs and middle-aged white women from South Pasadena would run screaming from the theater! As with Monty Python's Life of Brian, Dave Chapelle, South Park, George Carlin, Joan Rivers, Dave Allen etc if you don't like them don't watch them. Breaking the "rules" is just part of why Pryor remains a legend; knowing where the line is and busting through it.
I think the track is called "Cue Bill Conti", and it is for a scene that takes place at an Oscars ceremony at the end of the movie... Bill Conti was frequently the music director at the Oscars in the 80s and 90s (and 00s). Sharpiro was making a joke. Bill Conti did not write this cue. If you have metadata that says that he did, that metadata is wrong.
Well not having seen the film I didn't get the joke and bought the score album for that track for nothing!
But I don't see how it was for nothing -- you already said you like the track... do you like it less now, knowing that it wasn't Conti, but was Shapiro doing a Conti tribute? It's the same music.
"So I guess Bill Conti wrote the "Theme from TROPIC THUNDER" as when a film wins at the Oscars the Theme from the movie is played as winners are announced and go up to accept their awards."
No, I stand corrected. It now appears that Theodore Shapiro wrote the "Theme from TROPIC THUNDER" which appears in the score cue "Cue Bill Conti" which supposedly is conducted by Bill Conti at the Awards Ceremony in the movie TROPIC THUNDER played when the Australian Actor played by Robert Downey Jr. announces that TROPIC THUNDER has won an Oscar. That should clear everything up.
Can anyone confirm if Bill Conti appeared as himself in the movie, conducting at the Oscars? He does not receive any credit at IMDB, but he may have appeared uncredited. I don't have the movie to verify.

I've seen the movie, but I don't remember an actual Conti cameo. (Of course, could have been a "blink and you miss it", like Polanski in CARNAGE, but I think that's unlikely.)

Your memory serves correct. The scene is available on YouTube (at 0:50), and Conti appears nowhere. There are two versions of the movie, though. I am not sure which one the video is from.
