Anyone in the know know of a score soundtrack coming out anytime? I know there’s a song soundtrack due sometime this summer but haven’t seen anything regarding a score CD.

Three or four different people, knowing I’m a Kate Bush fan, have now told me that she’s back in the charts thanks to a song being used in Stranger Things.

Sales of Arthur B. Rubinstein's WARGAMES soundtrack and Korngold's Violin Concerto are also through the roof! (Or, I'd like to think.)

Two seasons in a row they use Philip Glass operas for the climax.

This is definite? Surprised nothing is downloadable yet unless they’re waiting for the final two episodes to drop to avoid spoilers in track titles?

I might be (obviously) completely missing it, but I didn't see any mention of the score album, or Dixon & Stein.

Looks like the Soundtrack CD is coming in September, but I can't find anything on Google regarding a separate score album.

The entire scene in episode 5(?) where Hopper confesses to his fear of being a curse was scored with Mark Isham's Main Titles to the 1986 film, The Hitcher. It's one of my favorite musical cues, so it was obvious to me when it came up. I hope they credited him for that.

Pretty fantastic use of it this season however. Ep.7 was incredible IMO.

Rob Simonson posed on Instagram part of the amazing orchestral version he did for Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill." He said more to come but I don't know if that mean more posts about it or that there'd be some sort of release of that song or what...

I felt the score was a huge disappointment in this new season of Stranger Things. It was a remarkable step down in quality and with no standout pieces like previous seasons. Except, of course, the re-use from other great scores (mentioned throughout this thread). Even the brilliant Kate Bush has her song drowned out by an "amazing orchestral cover" (I greatly disagree) and obtrusive sound FX. That sequence really felt robbed of the tension and catharsis that "Running Up That Hill (Deal With God)" was already lending to it when it cheapened it with a bland trailer music cover and the sounds of crumbling rocks. There's a lot to be said for simply trusting the power of visuals and the dense production quality of great beloved song.

Thanks for the heads up - it's great work. That scene was incredibly powerful and the end titles scoring of it / continuation was beautiful.

Wow, that's a spoiler right there. Not cool.

The end credits of episode 2 was great! Very Tangerine Dream mid-80s inspired. Hoping that one is on the soundtrack.

Edit: Seems like it's not part of the score, but this song:

You should probably clarify that it is from the video game Brigador, music by Makeup & Vanity Set. If you like that track (and Tangerine Dream), I urge you to check out the rest of MAVS work. This song is from the volume 2 release, track is "Into Hell."

I know I should be grateful for a score released on CD, but I utterly despise how soundtracks are being broken into separate releases. This is mainly happening with television soundtracks (e.g. Loki, Stranger Things). You end up paying double for a single season of music.

With Stranger Things you could make the argument that the season was broken into Volumes 1 and 2 so the soundtrack release simply reflects that but it's still cheesy as hell. Previous seasons of Stranger Things were released complete but the soundtracks were still sold as Volumes 1 and 2. Season 1 of Loki came out as a Volume 1 and 2 as well and it wasn't even physical CDs; it was a digital release!

Record companies have a found a way to further monetize the soundtrack genre. By sub-dividing what should be a single release, they've turned soundtracks into quasi-microtransactions.
