https://asturscore.com/noticias/the-musical-world-of-marc-shaiman-by-sergio-hardasmal/

This is the first book published worldwide dedicated to the complete work of Marc Shaiman.

In 2020 it was published in Spanish. It has finally been translated into English by Alex Massana.

Inside the book and in the cover there are illustrations based on the characters from the films to which Marc Shaiman has put music, and which are the work of Andres Antunez.

The artist Javier De la Cruz Garcia has painted a watercolor with the portrait of Shaiman, expressly thinking of the cover of this book.

At the same time, a second edition has been published in Spanish, updated, revised and expanded.

An extensive and rigorous work written after years of studying the composer's work and written in a pleasant and simple style, analyzing the music and its use with the image.

Movies, musicals, tv series, single songs for ceremony galas and pop stars, pilot episodes or even the Castle Rock logo... everything has been analyzed in detail, including in some cases opinions of the composer himself and his collaborators, after a detailed research and analysis of lots of interviews published in magazines and specialized media.
All possible aspects of Marc Shaiman´s career are included in the book as composer, as lyricist and as actor, and more...

Wow! That kind of book I would welcome for any composer!

I followed his career at the start and lost track in the late 90´s. Maybe it´s time to reconnect.

-Fantasy comedies: Hocus Pocus and Hearts and Souls

What am I missing? Debney scored that film. And as far as I know, Horner was going to, then suggested Portman, then Debney was the final composer.

The book is very comprehensive. It is full of information that is not so well known. At Hocus Pocus Shaiman arranged and produced a musical number. Throughout the book, information of this type is revealed, such as two original songs by Shaiman and Ramsey McLean in the film For Love Or Money, but that he could not write the score for what is told in the book.

Of course, throughout all these chapters many other works by Shaiman are discussed that are not mentioned in the chapter titles.

Because your book covers rejected scores, unless you have an objection, I'd like to get a copy of the front cover of the book and promote it on my Rejected Film Scores website (like I did with Torn Music [Hubai]).

Is there a specific purchase link you want me to use? Maybe one you have at a place like Amazon where every time you get a purchase, you get a little money, or some such thing. Or a publisher purchase page?

At the moment, the book is only available on the Amazon pages of several countries.

Sharing these links is a great help to publicize this initiative...

Thank you very much in advance!
