Highly informative work. Lots of photos. Focus is mainly careerwise, films by films. Don't expect a biography such as Steven C Smith's Herrmann or Steiner books. The approach is different. Just placed an order with Amazon for a copy (£12.80 is a nice price and that includes postage). I've always liked the music of Marc Shaiman. It's big and bold and larger than life, not afraid to showcase strong themes and catchy melodies that embody what film music is to me. I don't have everything by him on CD, but my collection is pretty decent and usually it was bought after I'd heard the music while watching the film and thought 'I've gotta have that'. Some of my faves are HEART & SOULS (nice Grusin vibe in that one), the two CITY SLICKERS scores, NORTH, AMERICAN PRESIDENT, A FEW GOOD MEN and STUART SAVES HIS FAMILY. If I'd known Shaiman was gonna play too, I'd have timed our jolly with the festival.
