I've been watching scenes here and there on youtube and it's not THAT bad. I like some things about it.

Honestly, I agree. It's a fine time passer with some really fine moments. The finale actually hit me in the feels. My only issue is the music could be better.

The brilliant part is the producer not knowing which characters are from which movies. Signifying the people at Disney don't know the property at all.

Mr. Mouse Executive: "So, you have a new Star Wars money shanking for me?"

Mr. Mouse Pitch Meeting (just Mr. Mouse looking at himself in a mirror): "Yes, sir, Mr. Mouse, I do."

Mr. Mouse Executive: "Well, tell me about this ultimately pointless money shanking then."

Mr. Mouse Pitch Meeting (just Mr. Mouse looking at himself in a mirror): "Well, I thought we'd further codifying the prequels instead of apologizing about them and moving on, by making a pointless money shanking where we demonstrate we don't know much about the properties, care more about the sex of the composer than the talent, and slap-dash some mediocre writing on it."

Mr. Mouse Executive: "Why would we do that? Aren't fans already not to happy about pretty much everything we've done since the fool Lucas sold us the property?"

Mr. Mouse Pitch Meeting (just Mr. Mouse looking at himself in a mirror): "Because money."

Mr. Mouse Executive: "OOOHHH, MONEY -- proceed."

Mr. Mouse Pitch Meeting (just Mr. Mouse looking at himself in a mirror): "Then we'll make it so the only way you can watch it is to pay for yet another specialty pay service."

Mr. Mouse Executive: "People love paying way more for multiple specialty pay services than one cable service they used to bitch about the prices of."

Mr. Mouse Pitch Meeting (just Mr. Mouse looking at himself in a mirror): "Yes, sir, they do. Also, we can sell more merchandise."

Mr. Mouse Executive: "Oh, sweet, I love milking parents. You know, when we aren't implying they're horrible people for not wanting homosexual characters in children's films and a boy dressed up as a princess. Fuck them -- milk their wallets."

Mr. Mouse Pitch Meeting (just Mr. Mouse looking at himself in a mirror): "Yes, sir, we will."

Mr. Mouse Executive: "Make those piggies squeal, HAHA!"

Mr. Mouse Pitch Meeting (just Mr. Mouse looking at himself in a mirror): "Yes, sir, we will."

Mr. Mouse Executive: "Oh, and that female composer we bragged about hiring and her being a woman -- start replacing parts of her score with a male composer's score and hire Williams to replace her theme. We got our press already; Twitter and Facebook will cover our backs."

Mr. Mouse Pitch Meeting (just Mr. Mouse looking at himself in a mirror): "Yes, sir, we will."

Mr. Mouse Executive: "And now get ready for the happy hand..."

My thoughts on the last episode. The last 10 or 15 minutes were really excellent. If foreshadowed what could've been. (Minus Reva)

Ewan McGregor was particularly exceptional in the last episode. James Earl Jones still has it as Darth Vader. (Assuming that was his voice) Hayden Christensen still can't perform one convincing line of dialog, just cringe.

One thing I really did like about this series were the light saber animated effects. Probably the coolest they've ever looked. I love all the reflective light they give off too.

The emotional underscoring was pretty decent though the action music was gawd awful, especially the last duel with Obi Wan and Vader. Sounded like discount Williams once again.

Speaking of which I didn't think the duel was all that great. I hate that they give them god like powers. Even if they have the power to move mountains they are still flesh and bone and should be crushed to death. Slicing Vader's helmet in half was way cool though.

Darth Vader's lines are so old and tiresome. He has a vocabulary of what a hundred words? They really need to develop him as a character beyond, "I am the master", "Then I will kill you", blah, blah, blah, boring dialog.

Reva's story arc and resolution was complete garbage. Though a crying Reva shows perhaps the actress can act if given the right material.

Little nine year old Leia. Shouldn't have been in the series. But the actress really did emulate Carrie Fisher. She did a good job.

They could've fixed a huge plot hole. Namely Obi-Wan not finishing off Anakin (again!) by sensing Leia was in danger and running off to save her. Instead he just walks away from an injured Anakin then senses Leia's in danger. Such an easy fix.

There's lots of things I could critique in the last episode but I'll leave it there.

It does sound excessively implausible, but I've had no great love for any of it that came after 1979.

Glad to hear that you, like me, didn't like THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK. wink

Solium, I must admit, you make some really valid points about the writing on OWK.

Of all of the obvious dialog they gave Vader, having him NOT say "now...I have the high ground" was shocking. And slightly disappointing.

It really hit me watching this and season three of The Orville (at the same time) how amateurish the Disney Star Wars product is.

Obi-Wan, and The The Mandalorian scripts are very simple almost to the point they feel like webisodes opposed to series episodes. There's very little substance. The characters are flat and one dimensional, the performances are weak. There's no chemistry among the actors. They feel like cartoon characters, not real people. They use the easiest and sloppiest editing techniques like quick cuts and shakey cam.

Orville has a group or distinct characters who have their own stories to tell. The actors have great chemistry together and put in wonderful performances. The episodes are though provoking and complex. The production quality on all fronts is much better than the Star Wars product. It feels and looks polished and professional.

Its not to says Orville is perfect, but its by far the better of the two franchises.

  • the Emperor setting a trap by giving the Rebels the location of the actual shield generator instead of a dummy facility that will explode when entered......

The Emperor didn't give the shield generator location. The Ewoks found the "backdoor" for easier infiltration. The Emperor's overconfidence in his foresight (the power he used for nearly all his life) was his weakness.

As long as we watch it, that will not happen. However, it seemed to me that everything was not so wrong, at least, I heard much worse written things for equally popular franchises. I know what I'm talking about because for the last few years, I've been writing reviews like https://samplius.com/free-essay-examples/an-analysis-of-childish-gambinos-this-is-america/ thanks to which I help students analyze the world music. Today, there is so much diverse content that it is simply impossible to listen to and read about everything, but still, I try to talk about the most exciting compositions of our time..

With the recent announcement of Doctor Who, I think my association with Disney+ will be coming to an end.
