My vinyl history (the exact order gets blurry after the first three): • Neal Hefti - The Odd Couple (my parents' LP) • Roland Shaw - Themes from the James Bond Thrillers • Roland Shaw - Themes from the James Bond Thrillers, Vol. 3 After that I started scooping up all the LPs I could afford (meaning not many): • John Barry, et al - Most of the film-version Bond LPs. • John Carpenter - Dark Star • Peter Schickele - Silent Running • Pino Donaggio - Carrie • Stu Phillips - Battlestar Galactica • John Williams - Superman • John Williams - The Empire Strikes Back (Charles Gerhardt) • Jerry Goldsmith - Star Trek TMP • James Horner - Star Trek II

For me, the firsts were from repetition. First notice of film(ed) stuff music: Super Friends (1973-74), not just Hoyt Curtin's theme, but I came to recognize the library music by Ray Ellis tracked in from Star Trek: The Animated Series, which I can now listen to thanks to a lot of hard work by Neil S. Bulk. My very first score music! I was four or five. First proper film music: Because I had the LP The Story of Star Wars, I found John Williams and that score, or parts of it, and around the same time, I saw Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which needs no repetition to bring music to the front of the mind. First soundtracks: Christmas presents: Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Battlestar Galactica LPs First self-purchased: Star Trek: The Motion Picture A lot of La-La Land and a little Intrada have been reviving my earliests for a few years now.

I saw Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which needs no repetition to bring music to the front of the mind. . I think after Star Wars, Close Encounters was the second soundtrack I bought. I can still do that musical notes with the hand gesture that Francois Truffaut did to welcome the aliens, even though I haven't seen the movie itself in 20 years...

Oooh, NOW AND THEN is SUCH a good score (the movie's pretty decent too). I would buy an expanded edition in a heartbeat (assuming there's more; I forget to be honest). Yavar Indeed! Its a great movie and me and my friends watched it many times. Enough times for me to start notice the amazing themes/melodies. They were very simple but so beautiful and catchy! I ordered the CD as soon as I realized there was one and I remember they sent me the wrong one. They sent me the OST with all the songs! :O Luckily they told me to keep it and then sent me the score CD. Both CDs are great! I'm actually not sure if anything is missing though. Will have to check out the movie again now! You should! And please report back (maybe bump the actual Now and Then thread) about any good unreleased cues! Yavar
