This looks like a heavy production, as an overall super fanboy package. I like what I've seen of it so far. The edge-of-kitsch stuff works wonderfully well with the pulp sensibility of all the classic Trek.

I love that it contains the ABC broadcast kitchen-sink edit. I suppose a wide-screen transfer was easier to do, but I would have liked a pillar-boxed version for versimilitude.

Are you kidding Adam or being serious? I onky ask because I'm genuinely not sure if you're saying you really want a TV frame version of the SLV because that's how it was on TV, or you're taking the Mickey out of collector completism. Personally, I'm really happy the SLV has been preserved in 4K, and I'm happy it's wide-screen with the fixed Enterprise airlock shot. Cheers

The SLV is great for completists and those who grew up only knowing that version. Having all three available in 4k is pretty danged awesome.

My preorder is secure and my oath of celibacy is on record. Mine too. Now we can both carry on with our duties.

I once again agree with Mr. Woolston. The Special Longer Version has been the one I've seen at home 50% of the time. The other was the 1992 LaserDisc, from the box set.

C8, STAR TREK—THE MOTION PICTURE (Director's Edition) (the film) is coming out on disc in 4K and Blu-Ray in September. That's what we're talking about. There are different editions. The so-called “Complete Adventure” edition contains: The original theatrical cut. The new director's edition. The so-called "Special Longer Version" (SLV), which is the longer cut created for airing on ABC TV, and contains additional scenes not seen in the theatrical cut. There are other 4K and Blu-Ray editions which will include just the director's cut only. The various editions are available for pre-order through such outlets as Amazon and Zavvi. Does that answer your question? Cheers

Not upgrading to 4K anytime soon. But since these all got the 4K treatment is there a proper re-master of "The Voyage Home" on Blu Ray that isn't DNR'ed to death? The current blu rays are mastered from the 4k print, so you can just get that.

Does anyone in the U.K. know if the Director’s Edition has appeared on Paramount+ yet? I got a week’s free trial and it wasn’t on there so I’ve been waiting for the Director’s edition to appear before I pay to subscribe. I’ll be buying it in on disc in September but it would be great to see it before then!
