They haven't held the concert yet... maybe it's among the "others".

80% discounted tickets now is what I get for getting mine last month I guess lol. Still looking forward to it, even though Verhoeven no longer seems to be listed as a guest.

Over the years, I've been to plenty of film concerts. Most of the time, they're good enough and you're satisfied with the experience. But sometimes, and not too often, you're sure you've been to a one-of-a-kind, maybe-never-will-be-repeated film music concert that leaves you with this inner warm feeling that you've just been to something really special. This is especially so when those around you verbally share that very same feeling. The Los Angeles Film Orchestra and the robust SoCAL Chorale were terrific.

That was my concert experience. Congratulations to Robert Townson and the whole staff and orchestra members who made this such a memorable evening. It was well worth the 3,000 mile trip. And as a bonus, I got to get back in contact with those in the industry with whom I have become friends over the years. It was so good to see so many of them again, including our FSMers Lukas Kendall, Ford Thaxton, Henry Stanny ("Morricone"); also Marshall Harvey, Austin Wintory, Jon Burlingame, and I even got to shake hands with and congratulate John Denney in the lobby as he was leaving.

The script was well-written, and many of Basil Poledouris' family, friends, directors, actors, and associates made appearances on the stage. An extensive and well-chosen batch of photographs covering his whole career were spread out all through the concert, making it a very touchingly personal event.

Here's the Concert venue:

Thanks for posting all the details! I had planned on attending but then had a competing event and had to make the difficult choice. Those selections and suite seem to well-chosen and arranged, maybe they will be performed again someday!

This sounds like a blow out super special event. I have to face the reality that I’ll never hear his music live. Conan should be a regular on programs but like most of the music I love, I can’t imagine that any major orchestra would, for once, get a life and drop the millionth performance of (insert overplayed classical chestnut here) and play something which would surprise, delight, thrill an unsuspecting audience.

The whole concert was magnificent. The brass was crisp and loud. The choir soaring. Conan was incredible. Red October sent shivers up my spine. And Blue Lagoon was delicate and so moving.

And finally, after the macho encore of Robocop, they brought out a grand piano for a simple and beautiful performance of It's My Party, while showing photos from Basil's life with his family, friends, and collaborators.

The whole experience left me feeling like a kid who just discovered music that I've already been living in for my entire life. Basil was with us. Long live the king.

Wow 80% off a $50.00 ticket makes it just $10.00 I sure hope they sold out the house for those prices.

I was lucky to see Basil conduct his Suite from FREEWILLY Live at the LIGHTS! ACTION! MUSIC! Concert Dec. 7, 1993 at the Music Center Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. That was a great concert also featuring guest conductors Michael Kamen, Alan Silvestri, David Newman, Charles Fox, Mike Post and Jerry Goldsmith.

I miss my L.A. days of Movie Music Concerts and the great memories I will always have of them.

Happy for you all who were able to attend the Basil Concert. What a wonderful way to celebrate and honor him.
