My real name is Mike Schiff. For some reason now lost to time, I picked SchiffyM as a general online handle years ago, and I use it reflexively. I don't feel like I'm really hiding behind it. But if anybody wanted to know my first (not very surprising) name, now you do. (I just added it to my profile, too.)
James MacMillan. Don't have a middle name either. For a few years on the board I was bluenose19, but changed it when Lukas made a previous remark about wishing he'd stipulated that users display their real names.
For those who are not friends with me over at Facebook (then if you are you know my name) then I can tell you that my name is Tobias Börjesson. By the way when I started to visit these film music discussion boards I did use the forum name Toby The Swede.
The murphmanz username is one I set up in the late '90s and I've kept using so I didn't have to remember what name I've used on any given site, but I wish I'd just used my name from the start. I appreciate that isn't always suitable for everyone's circumstances though
Mine’s in my profile and always has been, no secret. Always happy to meet other members by email, and have, lots of them. Many in real life, too .
I've just put my real name in my profile too. I'm not particularly bothered about people knowing it, but I have some concerns if it could get 'pwned' by hackers in some way. If anyone wants to know it, it's there to be seen.
This is the only forum I've ever been on where I've even seen any implication that somehow it's bad to not use your real name as who you post under. And most forums I've been NO ONE uses their real name, though I suppose it's interesting that the ones I can think of where people do tend to have a much older userbase in general.
