Don't know if anyone caught this but Michael Giacchino is directing a Marvel special coming this October to Disney+ according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Think maybe he'll hire John Ottman to score? big grin

Gia directing something for Marvel has been rumored for months. Good for him!

Audibly, Michael is good. Visually, he doesn't know which direction the saucer section of the USS Enterprise should be facing... let alone the 'right' Enterprise.

I'm confused by this statement because Giacchino hasn't made a Star Trek series or movie here.

I can't get the video to play. How can you get the Enterprise saucer on backwards?

Looks amateurish to me.

That's the joke, isn't it?

I mean, it's all over the map – retro 80s "special presentation" graphics followed by a parody of an ineptly over-the-top horror film from decades earlier. (Giacchino's animated Trek short also used the gimmick of worn and spliced black-and-white footage.) It's not a joke I enjoy – basically, the gag is "Wouldn't it be hilarious if we made a film that was actually as bad as the film we're actually making?" – but that's what they're going for.

As for that animated Trek short, I don't remember much about it, or the Enterprise being somehow wrong, but I seriously doubt the mistakes were his.

I'll concede if it was meant to be a parody. I just hope being purposely amateurish isn't the new cool thing in Hollywood.

Thanks but still can't get the video to play. Could be the age of my computer and browser or some non script add-on I have running in the background.

I think this will be a huge hit among people who saw all these black-and-white monster movies as teenagers in the 1930s and 1940s, when they were originally in theaters.

The error in the short was that it showed the Enterprise A blowing up during the Star Trek III segment. In actuality, the original Enterprise was blown up in that movie, and it was replaced by the Enterprise A at the end of Star Trek IV.

This clearly is a homage to the old classics and (B-)Horror movies from back when.
Can't wait to see this big grin

Wow, that's a pretty shocking goof. (I was assuming it was something like "the nacelle struts were angled like the six-foot season one model, but when Khan appeared they were using the smaller model," but even I know that "A" shouldn't be there.) I don't know who made that mistake, of course, but there should have been many people to catch it. I'm guessing (just a guess) that somebody went "Oh no!" when it was too late.

Anyway, I don't specifically blame Giacchino for that error. I do blame him for so many scores I find dreary, though.

I know you're joking but its this kinda of corporate attitude that are putting a rift between IP's and the fan-base. They either don't know or didn't care. It's no different than putting a red shirt on Kirk or something. Canon matters so does your fan-base.

We can agree on Giacchino scores.
