The first song by Olivia I ever heard was "If Not For You." That one remains my favorite one of hers.
Same here. And I loved that distinctive slide guitar work, and it was one of many of Bob Dylan's songs that were covered by other artists. Strangely enough, even though it was her first Top 40 hit, which was released in the Summer of '71, you can't find it on any of her C.D. compilations.
R.I.P. Olivia Newton-John, you're now singing with the angels.
That's interesting. "If Not For You" was originally released on the Uni label. I thought Uni eventually became the MCA label, which released Olivia's other hits.
Elton John's early hits were on the Uni label and those are included on his MCA compilations, aren't they?

Never fear, mon ami, Ock swoops in with more info. "If Not For You" is found on these 2 CD's. (Depending on where one lives, of course--these 2 are primarily North American collections.)
That first cover is just stunning. She could just as easily been a top-class model.
The song appears on a bunch or other import CD's collections, but they are too numerous to post pix.
A few days ago I pulled out my blu-ray of Xanadu. I think the musical numbers were imaginative. Then I listened to some of her greatest hits. My favorite is Please, Mr., Please.
