The last release (BSX 2006) included about 20 minutes of Kamen music.

Holy smokes! Four cool and DIFFERENT covers for the same film! Wow.

The last release (BSX 2006) included about 20 minutes of Kamen music.

Exactly, which is why this seemed like an unlikely pick, to me.

I'm frankly amazed that Michael Kamen wrote and recorded enough music to justify its own album. I'm guessing a great deal of it wasn't used in the film, OR included with the Kamen material on the previous release. This sounds like it could be a revelation. I wonder how long the Kamen CD will be.

Just when I thought the 2-CD edition from BSX was the final word on this awesome score...

Hopefully this time, with the Kamen "Main Title into the craft" included wink

Is that the only Kamen cue that's in the film but not on the BSX 20 minute suite? Or has anyone noticed more music in the film but not on the previous album?

Assuming that the LP assembly and mix is included, I do hope Intrada will revert to the original LP track order with 'Evil Visitation' sequenced after "The Discovery" suite of four cues. It never sounded right to me on the BSX release having that very big and dramatic cue as the second track of the album presentation, directly following the very big and dramatic 'Lifeforce Theme' that opened the album.

Regardless, this is sure to be a wonderful release of a stunning masterpiece score (Mancini). The Kamen stuff I was never interested in but, again, will be great to have for his fans.

I have the BSX release, but as this is a favorite score for me and I'll sure be checking the new release.

On the Mancini score I'm curious if the sound will be further improved (already sounds good but maybe some hiss could be minimized with modern technology) and if the damaged choir in the finale will be repaired.

On the Kamen score I'm curious about how much more exists to fill a separated album.

Eh...I already have the two-disc version released by BSX Records which has a lot of the Michael Kamen stuff on it.

While I enjoy it, I can't imagine needing more of this score from him or Mancini.

But good for those who don't have it...but it doesn't appear to be a very expensive out of print release.

Is the demand there for this one?

How much missing/unreleased orchestral Kamen scoring IS there? Anyone know? I assume none of it was on the old release, because that sounded mostly like synth stuff. I can only imagine how much more appealing Kamen orchestral music would be...

Super interesting that it ended up being a release of a Last of the Mohicans sort of situation, rather than a used score and a rejected score. (Is it fair to say in this case that part of both scores was used and part was rejected, kinda like the Poledouris/Zimmer situation on White Fang?)

I don't think any of Kamen's music for LIFEFORCE was orchestral.

Judging from the cover art which suggests two separate booklets, this is not a 3CD set, but rather two individual releases (a 2CD set for Mancini and one CD for Kamen). Right?

Right, and Roger’s initial clues when this was first revealed made it clear that there would be two individual albums (one for Mancini’s score, and one for the Kamen material).
