Hell, how did I miss Seasons Pt. 1?!

Well, at least I have something to listen to before this comes out.

Funny, another dude I didn't much think about at the time of his biggest success, but came to enjoy quite a lot once the two-disc Miami Vice came out digitally some years.

Thanks for the heads up!

I most enjoy jan Hammer for his Fender Rhodes/Mini Moog playing with the original Mahavishnu Orchestra--a band like no other, before or since. Groundbreaking. Hammer, along with bassist Rick Laird, violinist Jerry Goodman, drummer Billy Cobham and guitarist/leader John McLaughlin played faster, louder, and more intricate music than anybody else. More importantly, the music was unique, blending McLaughlin's love of indian music with jazz virtuosity, rock's volume, and challenging time signatures. I saw this band twice--in 71 and 73--and still count those shows among the best of a lifetime of concerts.

Later on, I got to interview Hammer for a local radio station in his hotel room next to the stadium where his band was playing with Jeff Beck.

His electric piano/organ/synthesizers also played an important role in another favorite album of mine--John Abercrombie's Timeless.

Of his own albums, I most like The First Seven Days.

I finally got the CD. Lots of good stuff from the 74 year-old.

Anyone else having got/heard it?

Yep I've been listening some.

It's a little more 80's rock than is to my taste right now, but undeniable fun and energy.

Can't be leave I'm hearing that old synth orchestral hit in Black Diamond Run - didn't expect to ever hear that again in new stuff.
