Great point about Kung fu for Karate Kid. I guess no one noticed or cared because this is what the 80s was all about. Which then brings this point, how will a remake fit for today’s standards? Just leave the original alone. The new remake sucked so how will they figure this one won’t either. Cobra Kai is serving fans from the 80s nostalgia. People who did not notice the difference between karate and Kung fu. Why do we need another remake? Thanks! I just hate it that they take an opportunity to make a great film about the real thing and they trash it, basically. The first Ip Man film was great. Donnie Yen has incredible skills. Sure, there was lots of artistic license, but there was some authenticity as well. And I know these movies aren't about martial arts, but the personal stories, human drama, etc. And I'm (somewhat) serious - why not The Kung Fu Kid? Certainly no reason for a remake and the sequels started to sputter after the second film in the series. It again was "lightning in the bottle". It was unique for its time and well done. You really can't recapture the moment. You know why the 80's were so great? Because they made original stuff. (Karate Kid, Ghostbusters, Predator, Wargames, etc, etc.) Sure there were a few sequels, but even sequels in the 80's were great! Speaking of which, wheres the Wargames remake? That almost seems in vogue again right now. LMAO!
