Can anybody think of any television series that don’t have all of their seasons out on D.V.D.? Two examples I can think of are “Love American Style” and “Life Goes On” of which only their first seasons were put out in the format.

Planet of the Apes. The DVD set is only a selection of the most watchable episodes. OMG. In that case, thank God Man From Atlantis is complete on DVD. I became obsessed with that show in first run, but even I knew some of the last episodes were terrible, and could easily have been omitted for a "best of" set that would cost less to license. Some other notes of praise for series that could have been shorted but weren't: The Sony box set of Bewitched has all 254 episodes in good quality, with nothing missing. That's fantastic. While Bewitched never got as bad as the worst dives on Man From Atlantis, there were plenty of scripts that got filmed two or even three times each (the excuse: once in b&w, once in color with Dick York, and once more with Dick Sargent). Still, I want it all. The Twilight Zone made it to home video complete. I mention it because four episodes were suppressed for decades and not seen in syndication. Boy, it's nice to have the Bluray set.

One complaint about Warner Archive Collection’s “The F.B.I.” M.O..D. D.V.D.-R.s that are missing are the bumpers which closed each act and the season opening prologues with J.Edgar Hoover, along with the Most Wanted segments with Efrem Zimbalist Jr. that were seen at the end of some episodes. Let’s hope these are restored when the complete series is issued in a box set on Blu ray.

I was sure I read somewhere they had taken some off for the sake of story continuity... Other than maybe the little computer disc Verdon clung to, there really wasn't any continuity. It's as episodic as any show of the day, where attitudes change based on the needs of the story and events are forgotten the week after they occur. 10 of the episodes were combined into "movie" versions after the series went off the air and did the rounds on local stations for years. Maybe that's what you're thinking of.
