‘See How They Run’ Soundtrack Album Details

Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album for the murder mystery See How They Run. The album features the film’s original music composed by Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Steve Jobs, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Enola Holmes, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Birds of Prey, The Trial of the Chicago 7). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, September 16. Check back on this page for the streaming/download link. See How They Run is directed by Tom George and stars Sam Rockwell, Saoirse Ronan, Adrien Brody, David Oyelowo, Harris Dickinson, Ruth Wilson, Shirley Henderson, Jacob Fortune-Lloyd, Sian Clifford, Reece Shearsmith and Charlie Cooper. The movie is set in the West End of 1950s London and follows an Inspector and an eager rookie as they investigate the murder of a crew member during the production of a movie version of a smash-hit play. Pemberton's score is very lively and whimsical and keeps up with the tongue-in-cheek flavor of the movie throughout its entire length. It's well-orchestrated too. The film itself is a lot of fun, especially if you're an Agatha Christie fancier (there are lots of in-jokes). The dénouement of who actually dunnit is perhaps not up the surprise twists that Christie herself was so good at, but the movie still has lots of clever touches, is a nifty throwback to police thrillers of earlier times and contains an endearing performance by Saoirse Ronan as an eager-beaver constable to Sam Rockwell's world-weary heavy-drinking inspector. American country music legend Hank Williams manages to fit into this very English scenario too. The audience around me this evening in the theater had a jolly good time.

Thanks a lot, Lokutus. I just listened to these samples and like very much what I heard. It seems that Pemberton didn't write something in relation with the period of time of this story at all but rather opted for a modern sound, featuring his fascinating sense of rhythm. I definitely look forward to the CD release.

With Hollywood Records chances for a CD are pretty much equal to zero now. Unless Intrada picks it up, which isn't very likely... frown

The score works like gangbusters in the (pleasantly amusing) film, interweaving with the editing and dialogue to sharpen punch lines and underscore comic takes. On album, though, it wasn't doing much for me, even with residual goodwill from seeing the movie barely twelve hours earlier.
