MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19

HOUSE OF THE DRAGON---trailer released for Episode 6.

LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBulntGrnPE

CONSTANTINE 2---Keanu Reeves is returning for the sequel to the 2005 horror movie with Francis Lawrence (THE HUNGER GAMES) as the director. Akiva Goldsman is the writer.

THE KARATE KID---Sony Pictures announced a movie that will be a “return of the original KARATE KID franchise”. No other details were released, but there is speculation the Sony movie might be a prequel to the original movie.
COBRA KAI co-creator Jon Hurwitz commented on the new movie, “The guys and I would love to make KARATE KID and COBRA KAI movies and hope to someday. But this one isn’t from us or focused on the COBRA KAI cast. Don’t know much about it, but wish it well.”

1923---Robert Patrick (TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY) will play Sheriff William McDowell, friend of the Dutton family, in the YELLOWSTONE spinoff series starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.

THUNDERBOLTS---Julia Louis-Dreyfus commented on co-starring in the Marvel Studios superhero movie, “[it] means that my children now really respect what I do for a living.”

WOODY ALLEN---in a recent interview, Woody Allen appeared to hint he was retiring, “My idea, in principle, is not to make more movies and focus on writing." However, Allen's representative denied he is retiring, “Woody Allen never said he was retiring, not did he say he was writing another novel. He said he was thinking about not making films as making films that go straight or very quickly to streaming platforms is not so enjoyable for him, as he is a great lover of the cinema experience. Currently, he has no intention of retiring and is very excited to be in Paris shooting his new movie, which will be the 50th.”

GRAN TURISMO---Orlando Bloom will co-star with David Harbour in the Neill Blomkamp movie based on the video game.

HBO MAX---HBO Max cancelled two upcoming tv series from JJ Abrams: CONSTANTINE and MADAME X. Both series will be shopped to other networks.

TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia.
In THE SPY WHO LOVE ME, the tenth official James Bond movie, Bond Villain Naomi (Caroline Munro) was the first woman killed by James Bond (Roger Moore) when he fired a missile from the Lotus Esprit submarine car and shot down Naomi's helicopter.

Well, he doesn’t exactly kill her himself but doesn’t Bond use Fiona as a human shield in Thunderball?

Why would this film merit a prequel? Whats the story going to be about, Daniel's misadventures in Newark, New Jersey? Not a Cobra Kai fan so not interested in that story line either.

Hey, it's Newark New Jersey from the early 80's. He might meet a Soprano or two.

I get your concern about a prequel, I wasn't all that crazy about the first two - mostly due to the poor depiction of Karate techniques, BUT a prequel with more about Mr. Miyagi and when he was a Karate Kid might have some good potential.

If they could raise him from the dead. Or will he be CGI?

So now Keanu Reeves has four film franchises under his belt.

Constantine - 2 films
The Matrix - 4 films
John Wick - 3 films (or is it 4?)
Bill & Ted - 3 films

He almost had two SPEED films but turned down the sequel.

In hindsight - that may have been a wise move.

It definitely was, that film is terrible. She looked very nice which is about the only redeeming feature of it. I often wonder why they decided on a cruise liner? Would a train or airplane not have made for a bit more speed?

True, but it was really a one and done gimmick.

Yes he does. But she was a nuclear terrorist and he is James Bond.

What about Rosa Klebb ?

It was a wise move at the time, not even in hindsight. Gawd that was terrible.

Great score, though.

Do you know if the storyline for Speed 2 was drastically changed because of Keanu’s no-show (a la BTTF 2’s rewrite due to Crispin Glover)?

But it did give me one of my favourite Simpson’s quotes of all time....

“Woah! It’s like Speed 2, only with a bus instead of a boat!”
