SEASON 1:
Fairly short-lived series from 1979 that tried to capitalize on the success of "CHiPs", but failed. BRought to you by the "CHiPs" producers, it centered around the real life group 240-Robert, but changed locations for a more scenic view. Catchy and memorable, albeit kind of generic (for that time) theme music is by Mike Post and Pete Carpenter. Perhaps this theme gives us some kind of indication to what their rejected theme to "CHiPs" may have sounded like. Unfortunately, I was hoping to link to the entire series in good quality in English, as previously it had been considered a partially lost series until a couple months ago when a guy uploaded the entire thing to his Google Drive, but all the files are gone, so now all I can do is some episodes in varying quality and only some in English. This also means I won't be doing the suites like I had wanted to. Keep an eye out on this page incase new loads are re-upped. https://archive.vn/clRVI All loads on the Archive site, are in English. You'll need to re-archive the page. PLEASE NOTE: Archive.org has a wonky video player and you need to let the page load before it'll properly play a video, and in a video page that has multiple episodes like this, you may need to click on the specific episode, otherwise the wonky player may start playing the first video. Attention readers: I have been implementing a system that is nothing more than a note to myself; for cues that I want to include in a suite one day, for now on I will denote them with ^ symbol. It has no special meaning to anyone else but myself. No, the lack of an up arrow symbol doesn't mean the cue is bad (it just may have too much SFX or FX for suite use or just isn't worth my time to edit and include). Hence forth this system will be in all future threads and pre-exiting threads that I go back to for missed episodes. Anything in ( ) are just notes to the arrow and you need not bother with that. The system does not mean that I will make a suite or that one has been made, it's simply for my own reference if and when I do decide to. NO FULL EPISODE LOAD: "The Apology" (the feature-length pilot episode) By: Mike Post and Pete Carpenter Opening: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bN-f_sIIvI8 Yes, I have no episode to present today, but here is the theme music: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qceljTMRUM Monday I start the three-a-day updates.

I loved 240-Robert unreservedly during its short run. There wasn't really time to get attached to the cast; the two things that stood out to me were the Hughes 500D helicopter and the theme music. I couldn't get enough of either one.

I couldn't get enough of either one. I think 240-Robert might have been the first time I became really aware of Mike Post and Pete Carpenter; I liked the theme a lot. I also liked Joanna Cassidy a lot.

"Oil & Water" By: Harry Betts https://archive.org/embed/240-robert-1.02/240-Robert+-+1.13.mp4 NOTE: Missing the end credits. This is the final effort by Betts for the series. Highlights: 0:00 in.^ 2:48 in.^ 8:58 in. 16:19 in.^ 17:40 in.^ 21:44 in.^ 23:35/25:06 in. And the cue after the commercial break.^ 35:18 in.^ 36:42 in. Okay on its own, but for the scene ... And the end credits music that immediately follows. Most of the score was covered in suite #1. Suite #2 will cover the rest and start the next episode they scored. (Note to Me: this score already recorded for suites / 1:08:22 -- composers' credit)

SEASON 1:
Fairly short-lived series from 1979 that tried to capitalize on the success of "CHiPs", but failed. . And capitalize on the notion that police work supposedly attracts a high number of beautiful men, as I recall. Pffffft!!!

"Double Trouble" (1.9) By: Mark Snow https://archive.org/embed/240-robert/240-Robert.s01e09.Double.Trouble.1979.TVRip.XVID-TVV.avi Highlights: 0:23 in. Each episode has a new performance of the main title theme, which theme and title are woven in as part of the episode, and in this case I like Snow's arrangement.^ 10:44 in. Joining a cue already in progress for the good part. And the cue after the commercial break.^ 13:58 in.^ 19:33 in. And the cue after the commercial break.^ 24:18 in.^ 29:52 in. Short bumper cue.^ 33:13 in.^ 41:26 in.^ (NtM: 47:28/ composer credit -- 48:46 in)

"A Cool Welcome" By: Mark Snow https://archive.org/embed/240-robert/240-Robert.s02e01.A.Cool.Welcome.1979.TVRip.XVID-TVV.avi Highlights: 0:00 in.^ 3:32 in.^(open/4:09/) 8:36 in.^ 15:44 in.^ 20:23 in. The show's theme music, playing as an arrangement on the radio.^ 24:56 in.^ 26:27 in. And the cue after the commercial break. 27:32 in.^ 35:28 in.^ 40:08 in.^ 41:27 in.^ 46:34 in.^ 47:41 in. Followed by the new "240-Robert" description arranged music end the new credits theme arrangement.^ I cited most of the episode score. Finishing SEASON 2:
Yes, the second season was only three episodes long. It got canned fast. "Hostages" By: Mark Snow https://archive.org/embed/240-robert/240-Robert.s02e03.Hostages.1979.TVRip.XVID-TVV.avi Highlights: 0:00 in.^ 0:55 in. Over four minutes of kick ass theme music.^ * 6:26 in.^(second: 6:47) 10:01 in.^ 10:51 in.^ 14:43 in. And the cue after the commercial break.^ 15:59 in.^ 16:41 in.^ 21:30 in. And the cue after the commercial break.^ 24:54 in.^ 26:46 in. 30:24 in. Nearly four minutes long.^(31:15) 31:14 in. This cue is essentially a continuation of the above cue and on a set of scoring, I'd crossfade them together (they naturally go together; no shoe-horning in).^ 40:18/41:31 in.^ 43:01 in.^ 44:40 in.^ 48:06 in.^ I think Snow should have gotten an Emmy nomination for this episode score. I cited nearly every single cue, so I might as well say the entire score should be released. This could easily be a scene from nearly every episode of "CHiPs". They even used the same breaking in front of a runaway vehicle trick from an episode of "CHiPs". Let's count the number of stupid things the bank robbers did (that I spotted): 1. Said they were only going to be there minutes, but took their sweet time. 2. Didn't wear masks to hide their faces. 3. Said the name of one of their team members. 4. After establishing one was a cop, took their eyes off him and didn't keep watching him. If anyone should have been cuffed, it should have been the cop, not the stroke victim. (NtM: 40:27 in -- composer credit: 49:13 in)
