Mine is in THE RIGHT STUFF, also my favorite film, when Chuck Yeager breaks the sound barrier for the first time. It's exciting, emotional, thrilling and I love Conti's score, it's my all time favorite score too.

I'm going to cheat a little here and name one unscored scene and one scored scene.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Favorite unscored scene....

The chariot race from Ben-Hur.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Favorite scored scene....

The Enterprise tour from Star Trek - The Motion Picture. Nothing but magnificent visual effects coupled with Goldsmith's legendary music. I don't even like the film but it has this one unforgettable scene.

The ending of The Searchers packs a lot of emotion, to name just one.

Kill Bill. The scene where Beatrix Kiddo slices off Sophie Fatale's arm to the tune of Death Rides a Horse

The rescue of Gasim from Lawrence of Arabia. Notice Lean's architectural mastery here: he withholds the actual rescue to build to a greater climax at the arrival in camp.

Those three sequences are excellent for sure. If I really thought about it I'm sure there's a millions "favorite" scenes I could mention.

Favourite scene?
The lead up to and shootout in Mapache's cantina from the Wild Bunch.

Yes, certainly that, & the Ben-Hur chariot race, & the whole Lullaby of Broadway sequence from "Gold Diggers of 1935, & the fight & death of Dracula from the 1958 Hammer film, & the courtroom scene (actually a stable) from The Devil & Daniel Webster, & that long swordfight at the end of Scaramouche, & the first big siege of Troy from Helen Of Troy, & that long & complex helicopter shot when they're attacking the casino in The Longest Day, & the chase on the bridge from Bad Boys 2. God, there's so many of them, if you've been a film fan for over 60 years, you can't have just one; more like a hundred & one.

...& another one - Once Upon A Time In The West, Claudia Cardinale get off the train at a station, but there's no one to meet her, she looks around & then leaves the station on a buggy. The scene should be a load of nothing, but...as directed by Sergio Leone & with music by Ennio Morricone, the scene is magical.

A bit of a hard one this but-

The end of The Mission , where everyone gets killed
Riders of Doom in the beginning of Conan
Quigley Down Under, where Quigley out draws Rickman- ' I said I had no call for one , never said I didn't know how to use one'
Obviously the end of Good bad and ugly
For just visuals numerous by Mario Bava
Charles Laughton bouncing up/ down the cathedral

My first thought when to the Asteroid Field scene in The Empire Strikes back. Effects, pacing, performance and music all melded to perfection.

Then...

Superman catching Lois in 1978

The Enterprise burning up in the Genesis atmosphere in 1984

Auric Goldfinger's death in the climax in "Goldfinger", in which he gets sucked out the plane after James Bond shot his gun.

My second favorite? When Rooster Cogburn shot that rat in "True Grit" when he told him to stop feeding on Chin Lee's seed bag.

Favorite (a tie) for their emotional resonance with me:

In "National Treasure" the scene where Ben Gates get's to what he thinks is the treasure room that has been completely looted and Ben dejectedly believes there is no treasure (or it's lost forever) and he's waisted his life, Ben's father corrects him and says HE was wrong and Ben was right and there IS a treasure and he is now 100% on board in helping look for it (and of course the following treasure reveal scene).

In "Back to the Future" when Marty says "thanks" to Doc Brown in a very meek way realizing there is no way he can repay Doc Brown for his enormous help and that Doc will likely be dead upon Marty's return to 1985 and Marty reaches out and grabs Doc in a hug.

As you will all have noticed but ignored, Henry asked for favourite scene - singular!!

Im sure the truth why fsmers always struggle to choose just one....has to be psychologically revealing.

I did qualify my selections by starting off saying that it was a hard one, if you pardon the phrase. smile

Yeah, I ignored it. It's just impossible, like trying to name my favourite film (I couldn't even decide on my favourite western, or war film), & besides, people can check out all the choices & then maybe search out the whole film.

We don't have mods policing on a regular, so thanks for your service in their absence!

Favorite movies scenes are like favorite foods or children or pets. You MAY be able to choose one, but most people can't. It's not limited to people here.

It wasnt meant to be a mod comment, just a poser to make you all think, to challenge your minds...why is it so many of us choose to list multiple answers when asked for one?
