It may not be entirely superfluous. Wasn't there something about it containing a scene or two which didn't make it onto the Blu-ray?

That's right, I forgot about that. So between the YouTube video missing the prologue and the Blu-ray missing a couple of scenes, it's worth having both.

Already finished my listen to Part 6 and I gotta say... there's not a single piece in this bunch that isn't pretty stellar. Everyone here already knows that Jane Eyre is my favorite Williams score I suspect, but here's my appearance on Jeff Eldridge's podcast The Baton a few years ago where I talk about why, and we even play a cue or two from the film itself which is unreleased on album (like E.T., the soundtrack album was half full of tracks arranged specifically for it rather than being taken from the film):
https://thebatonpodcast.podbean.com/e/episode-25-jane-eyre/

The Screaming Woman is so frustrating. It's short but honestly so, so good. I absolutely love this kind of Williams writing and I really hope that something turns up for it someday in the Universal vaults. It really does feel like a tease at a larger work somehow, and I'd love to hear Williams develop this theme if anything else was recorded, but even if this is all that survives of this thematic material it would still be a gem to get on album in good sound.

Literally ALL of the other TV themes were excellent (his Amazing Stories work is so good but it almost pales in comparison to some of these other pieces... the NBC pieces were particularly awesome, even though I'd heard them before.)

I'm excited to hear that you might go episode-by-episode on not only Checkmate but M Squad too, Thor! I very much look forward to your traversal of Williams's work on those series because your thorough traversal of Kraft and other series was a real highlight of this six part podcast miniseries. smile

Here’s finally the REDUX version of the podcast series, the only one I'll ever do. Took me a while to get around to, but there are so many nuts and bolts.

For those of you who have already listened through the series, I provide time codes below for where the significant additions and changes are.

PART 1:

- Removed some fill words, corrected a few mistakes
- Double checked for more episodes of General Electric Theatre. None found.
- Added an episode-by-episode walkthrough of M Squad, all 8 episodes (21:54)
- Added a suite of incidental music from Bachelor Father (43:59)

PART 2:

- One additional episode of Alcoa Premiere found, “George Gobel Presents” (01:06:13)

PART 3:

- Corrected a couple of mistakes
- Added what is presumably John Williams’ theme for Kraft Mystery Theatre (22:20)

PART 4:

- Added two additional episodes of Chrysler Theatre, “The Game” and “The Admiral” (19:23)

PART 5:

- Double checked for second episode of Convoy. Not found.
- Doubled checked for more episodes of The Tammy Grimes Show. None found.
- Double checked for CBS Playhouse episode. Not found.
- Added an episode-by-episode walkthrough of Wayne and Shuster Take an Affectionate Look At…, 8 out of 9 episodes found! (24:10)

PART 6:

- Added the “Rodeo” NBC News theme (32:12)

This leaves only the CHECKMATE project, which will be down the line.

Wonderful, Thor! Still looking forward to your thorough Checkmate coverage as I really like what I've heard from that series, but it's really helpful to have time stamps to skip to for the existing episodes that have been expanded, since I already devoured the original versions of the eps months ago.

Cripes, I forgot about one of the most important things -- a suite of incidental music from BACHELOR FATHER. Added now.

Almost a month later, and I'm curious if anyone has had the chance to listen to the new material?

How did I miss this? Congrats on finally getting another "Goldsmith Odyssey" complete approach to a composer albeit just the TV work. And, of course, not just another composer but THE composer. Wonderful chronological detail. I am barely half way through. Again major, major congrats!
