This is Delerue in epic style. It is GLORIOUS !
Yes , they do not make this kind of music anymore, because the younger generation of soundtrack music fans are fixated on Goldsmith scores from TV and expansions of previous CD releases from film. Scores that are premieres are rarely requested. Please know that I have accepted this situation. The money that I once spent on soundtrack music is now paying for airplane flights and hotels around the world. I am happy and my wife is happy. Good luck to those who want the music from Gilligan’s Island.

Yay! I love this post! It's seldom that you read about someone here on this board who is happy! You've made it through the dark night Monty and now you are as free as a bird to go flying around and fair play to you, and your wife I hope you both have a great time. I hope we see you visiting here in Ireland! As for so many more of us here we have to soldier on, why I might even be 'happy' myself (and even feel a bit younger) if The Walton's were to come out in one form or another! As for Gilligan's Island I don't know? But I'd sure love to see a release of I Dream Of Jeannie..."some babies never learn" I guess, (to quote the great Zimmerman, and Sam Shepard, in Brownsville Girl). Anyway enjoy your holidays and thanks for that great card you sent us from Singapore!

Today I learned that the younger generation of film music fans are more interested in music from Gilligan’s Island (1964), General Electric Theater (1959-1962, if we’re talking Goldsmith scores), and The Waltons (1972-73, for Goldsmith), than they are in an epic 1989 (the year of Tim Burton’s Batman) score from Georges Delerue…fascinating! (I’ll take it! But… if people aren’t interested in — and buying — the Delerue score, why would it get repeatedly reissued? Almost as if it’s as popular as a Goldsmith score or something?)

I do find the complaint very curious… about expansions being desired, and premieres being rarely requested, in a post celebrating a new release which is a reissue of an expansion from 2014, of a score which had already been previously released!

For the record, the TV scores whose popularity is lamented… would all be premieres. A very confusing (or confused?) post, indeed.

But hey, chalk me up as another big fan of this Delerue score (and Delerue in general). I’m glad his popularity has maintained well enough to support continual releases of his music, be they reissues, expansions, or premieres.

Yavar
