A song, by the way, Sinatra loathed (despite that it went to #1). Sinatra would record another song cocomposed by Kaempfert, "The World We Knew (Over And Over)" which I have stated on previous threads, ranks as one of the most underrated songs Sinatra recorded. According to Wikipedia, Kaempfert scored the feature film with assistance from Herbert Rehbein, Charles Singleton, Eddie Snyder, Buddy Scot and Jimmy Radcliffe. "Strangers In The Night" interestingly, won a Golden Globe for Best Original Song From A Motion Picture.

Unfortunately, I have not seen any of the three movies represented on that disk. I checked Marc Boettcher's biography on Kaempfert and he mentions a re-recording of the "A Man Could Get Killed" score in Hamburg (which was only issued by Decca in the US). Kaempfert had wanted to conduct the movie recording, but "union reasons" prohibited it and Joseph Gershenson thus stepped in. I think the LP is also special in a different regard: unlike the other Kaempfert titles it (seems as if) is not linked to UMG directly, but owned by the Kaempfert estate. The "Terror After Midnight" portion on the CD is no less interesting, though. The CD runs for approx. five minutes longer than the Polydor LP. I have yet to check what the book has to say about this

Funny because this song must be up there on the all-time great song ! Was it recorded for the movie or it was latter done for a record. I never saw this movie but the lp cover is trempting !
