MONDAY, NOVEMBER 28 1923---trailer released for the Paramount+ prequel series starring Harrison Ford and Timothy Dalton. LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7SIXEy4cwiw BABYLON---trailer released for the movie starring Brad Pitt and Margot Robbie. LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MTLIxwhUr4 GLASS ONION: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY---the sequel was Netflix's best theatrical premiere with $13.8 million in five days. SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY---writer Jon Kasdan said he is receptive to a possible sequel to the disappointing prequel, “The reason for a SOLO 2 is if there’s a great reason, and certainly, I’d be game if there was… there were so many great characters we were able to establish, and for me, the strongest argument for a SOLO 2 is the movie was Alden [Ehrenrich]’s journey to owning that mantle, and by the end of it, I thought he really did, and he didn’t get the fun of getting just to inhabit it for a movie, so I’d love to see him back.” INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL---Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy commented on why the sequel is disliked by fans, “You never set out to do anything except make a great movie. Sometimes you hit that perfectly, and sometimes you don’t. In the case of Indy 4, I don’t think there’s any specific thing that any of us looked back on, except that we may not have had as strong a story as we wanted.” THE WALKING DEAD---showrunner Angela Kang commented on Daryl and Carol in the series finale, “Daryl and Carol, obviously, there were some changes that happened really late in the game in terms of like, what was happening with the spin-off,” said Kang. “And so, it’s a little different than we initially imagined, up until very, very close to the end of this. We thought she was going to ride off with him. And so, we chose to just make it about they’ve each chosen for their various reasons to go one way or another, and that relationship isn’t over, which is true. This is not just something we’re saying in the past. That story has to resolve itself.” Kang also commented on rumors Melissa McBride might return for the spinoff series, “Yeah, and at least now that felt like the best way to kind of deal with their story because we know that it’s like they are going in separate directions, but they’ll eventually come together at some point." Also, a synopsis of the series finale's original ending which was dropped after it was decided to bring back Rick and Michonne, “After Daryl rode off, we cut forward to the Freedom Parkway, outside Atlanta – where the iconic shot of Rick rode down from the pilot. See an ethanol-modified van, with a young woman and man in the front seats (in their twenties). And through the scene, we come to realize it’s adult RJ and Judith. Other adult versions of the kids are in the back – Coco, Gracie, etc. They’re out there, looking to escort any survivors back to their communities. Continuing the legacy of their parents. As RJ speaks over the radio, he finishes with: “If you can hear me, answer back. This is Rick Grimes.” (Which, of course, is his name – and the line Rick said in the pilot.) Then we end with the voice of a survivor answering back: ‘Hello?'” SPIDER-MAN 4---comic book artist/writer Ken Penders released a photo of John Malkovich's Vulture costume for the sequel that was cancelled by Sony Pictures. STRANGE WORLD---the Disney Animation movie premiere bombed and is expected to lose $147 million. The movie brought in only $18.6 million in five days domestically and only $28 million worldwide with a budget of over $135 million. TRIVIA---more James Bond movie trivia. The tallest Bond Villain was Jaws, who was played by 7' 2" Richard Kiel in THE SPY WHO LOVED ME and MOONRAKER. The shortest Bond Villain was Nick Nack, who was played by 3' 10" Herve Villechaize in THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN. 7' 2" Richard Kiel appeared with 5' 7" Barbara Bach in THE SPY WHO LOVED ME and he appeared with 5' 3" Blanche Ravalec in MOONRAKER. 3' 10" Herve Villechaize appeared with 5' 5" Britt Ekland and 5' 9" Maud Adams in THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN.

Blind. Just total blindness. This would on a list of reasons why she gets fired, and not hired, at some imaginary point in the future.

Me too. Solo wasn't Rogue One, but it was decent. I think a sequel would be free of establishing stuff... I wouldn't mind seeing more there.

So, the low bar of "decent" means more would be acceptable? I don't know, maybe I'm just getting more and more cynical, but if a project can be described as "decent", that to me means: "Well, it could have been worse, and thank your dear fluffy lord there wasn't another one.

You do understand that Kathleen Kennedy has produced some of the most successful and beloved American films over 4 decades, right? She doesn't get "fired" like you or I do. The myth built online is centered around gross sexism and not on comprehending that she is an insanely powerful and influential figure. If she leaves LucasFilm (a company she has worked with since the early 1980s) it would be to pursue an opportunity to produce more successful and possibly admired movies in the Hollywood system. Sometimes a bad, misguided Indiana Jones movie is just that. Sometimes a bad, misguided Star Wars movie is just that. Depending on who you ask, there are already a few of both. Or many. It's just perspective and Hollywood is a business where you make money.

With respect to the infamous fridge scene, I actually enjoyed it for what it was. Realistic? Not a chance, but the build-up to the nuke going off was intense and afterwards, I found the deadpan delivery from the general about fridges being a deathtrap to be funny. Certainly funnier than swinging monkeys and most other gags in the film. Let's face it, each Indy film has scenes where Indy somehow survives the unsurvivable or does superhuman feats that aren't even remotely realistic. One big difference is that the other films have so many other cool moments that we largely forgive the absurdities. I didn't hate Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but I rate it way below the other three. With respect to Solo, I would like to see more. It was entertaining, and the main reason I want to see more, is I liked the cast that had been assembled, they mostly dotted the "I"s and slashed the "t"s for Han's origins, so the potential story that they could have run with seemed more interesting than what we actually saw. All that said, this is Jon Kasdan commenting about wanting to do more, and given the number of Star Wars films that have been announced and later canceled, I will believe it when I see it. But, I would go and see the film. Especially if John Powell came back.

It's just perspective and Hollywood is a business where you make money. Indy 4 grossed almost $800 million. It was gonna make money regardless of its quality. Star Wars is more interesting to me. The best, Rogue One, was the least talked about including the trilogy. Maaaaaaaaybe RO, but otherwise Star Wars movies have been in decline since '81. I liked what RedLetterMedia said about it: for as big a universe you'd think it is, it's really a very small universe to work with in terms of characters and storyline.

There's a whole series called Andor. A minor character in the footnote of Star Wars canon who gets killed off in his own movie. And the Mandalorian, the Boba Fett knock off because Disney didn't have the balls to just give us a Boba Fett series. I agree Star Wars and Indie are going to make money no matter how bad they are.
