I remember seeing "Meet Joe Black" in the theatre while fighting a cold and medicated to the eyeballs, which often makes me emotional. Thomas Newman's finale cue, "That Next Place," just wrecked me. I was a snotty, sniffling mess. Good times!

That scene in The Fly remake where Brundlefly is talking to Veronica about becoming the world's first insect politician and other ramblings. Shore's music starts in low and after Seth says "I'll hurt you if you stay" the music swells and punches home the emotion.

I cry every time somebody makes me listen to Hans Zimmer.

I'm kidding folks, okay?

Cheers

Well it made me laugh anyway!

Every time I hear "Gondola no Uta" from Ikiru, I almost weep.

I did weep when I heard the end credits music from Close Encounters live at the John Williams birthday concert

"The Song of Bernadette" - Alfred Newman

The film moved me greatly the first time I saw it on TV, and the music is a very major component of the film's emotional impact.

It still makes me cry.

That music as Yoda dies and fades away in Return Of The Jedi was an early example of me really noticing the emotional tenor of film music.

Superman: The Movie, The Planet Krypton climax....because I realized I’d never be able to write anything that good.

Seriously, I think it was the ET closing, which is downright operatic. The build into that fanfare followed by the final statement of the theme is masterful, making the scene on the whole unforgettable. You just knew JW had the Original Score Academy Award in the bag.

I agree Horner’s scores have affected me similarly, namely the reunion scene in The Journey of Natty Gann and the end of Field of Dreams (when Ray meets his father John as a young man). Another one, the preparation for battle scene in Glory when building orchestra abruptly transitions to boys choir and soft low strings. Beautifully staged scene, the scoring of which JH, IMO, absolutely “nails.”

Mine was near the begining of BEN-HUR when the star fades and the fanfare kicks off. I don't know what emotion hit me. It was at a roadshow showing on the gigantic curved screen at the Sheffield ABC with the Westrex 6-channel surround system on steroids. It all just overwhelmed me.

For me it's the music that plays during the scenes with the lepered Tirzah and Miriam. First when Esther finds them at Judah's old house. Then when she takes supplies to the Valley of the Lepers and they ask how Judah is doing, but he can't reply, because he's hiding behind a rock. And finally when Judah reveals himself to them.

That music as Yoda dies and fades away in Return Of The Jedi was an early example of me really noticing the emotional tenor of film music.

I think 'Return of the Jedi' has the most emotional music out of any of the Star Wars films. My favorite piece from the film is 'A Jedi's Fury', which plays during the final duel between Luke and Darth Vader. It is the most poignant piece of music John Williams has ever written, in my opinion.

Does crying out of extreme fear count?

If it’s cry in fear any of the Zuul music from the original GN. Even hearing it now i break out in a sweat and go into fight or flight mode.

Regular cry that I remember is easily Glory. Though I imagine o cried when I saw An American Tail in the theaters when I was like 6 or 7. The finale from that is insta tears for me.

Yeah I’m a Horner slut. Sue me.

Horner’s music gets me often when I am watching a film he scored.

But the times I can remember as a youngster a film and music getting me all emotional and quite possibly ringing up a few tears were Leaving Home from Superman and Adventure on Earth from E.T. After Horner it’s John Williams music that can pull at my heart strings.
