Didn't Shore submit "Crimes of the Future"? Because it's absence on that problematic list is quite glaring.

It very well might have been on the list of 147 scores that they whittled down to the final 15

It very well might have been on the list of 147 scores they whittled down to 15

Given the dubious merit of many of the titles comprising that shortlist, I think I'll just go with Shore being absent-minded in his advancing age.

Sad to not see Thomas Newman for A Man Called Otto and Howard Shore for Crimes of the Future...

It's so strange, Alexandre Desplat fails to get the nomination once again, after last year ('The French Dispatch'). This time he had best score and best song categories and he goes with nothing.

Very happy to see Son Lux on the board. Also thrilled RRR is up for best song - hope they perform live, shame the film wasn't submitted for consideration.

Was RRR not featured for Best Picture or Foreign Language? I saw it on damn near everyone's predictions.

Very happy to see Son Lux on the board.

Yes, if it had been for THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ELEANOR RIGBY or PAPER TOWNS or something, for example. This was a rather annoying score for an annoying film. In fact, this proves yet again that I'm out of tune with the Oscar academy. With the exception of THE FABELMANS, I found all score nominees ranging from mediocre to bad.

Maybe the worst group of nominees ever. I don't like any of these scores.

    Babylon will probably win.

RRR was not submitted for Foreign Language as many parts of the movie are spoken in English.

Yeah, Desplat should've been nominated for Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio. The music was a big factor in making the movie as touching and thought provoking as it was.

Listening to that Youtube suite of music from the nominated scores shows such jarring disparity... you move between annoying sound design and bland scoring and then suddenly, at the end, an actual, listenable piece of music - The Fabelmans! To be fair, the Babylon score is entertaining but it's pretty much all raucous jazz cues.

No Pinocchio, and my favorite of the group is serviceable, at best.

Well, time to pray for a clean sweep from EEAAO.
