From Roger Hall's "Film Music Review," here is a critique of composer Mark McKenzie's new original score for "Prancer: A Christmas Tale" ... Embracing the innocence and wonder of childhood, with the sweet magic, and music of Christmas.

I want to plug this charming score. It's well after Christmas, but I just unsealed my copy last week and have really enjoyed it. McKenzie creates a poignant and playful soundscape. His is a fine creative effort that doubtless adds much to the impact of the film, which I have yet to see.

Don't miss this one! It's not even overly Christmas-y. I think a single carol quotation pops up in one instance, otherwise the CD is taken up with the wonderful work of this composer. He's certainly provided me with one catchy and rhythmic ear-worm tune! You'll know what I mean when you hear it.

Bumping this, just got this score, it is really light and sweet and warm, and the liner notes are very personal.
Buy this score. McKenzie did a lovely job with this.

A local classical music station has played various score cues from Christmas scores and this was one of them, just a few days ago.

EDIT: Sorry, I mis-remembered -- it was Jarre's score to the first film.
