Wow, I didn't know that David Michael Frank was performer electronic music in that score.

Any thoughts on this expanded presentation vs. the original album?

I do love it and the extra stuff is just great. I did have to check between this one and the old one initially though as i had forgotten its a very ‘centre’ based recording with a few exceptions. On the first listen to the new one i thought it was in mono but sure enough, checking the old release showed this is just how the score is recorded. Really nice atmospheric wee release.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, gents. I gave the expanded CD a spin last night and was very impressed with the previously-unreleased bits. I'm generally a less-is-more, album presentation > C&C guy, but in this case the extra music made for a much more varied and engaging listening experience; it never dragged or seemed overlong. Granted, a lot of that extra music may sound "dated" due to the prominence of synths and contemporary pop music influences, but that's what I loved most about it! I'm an '80s kid (born '75), so it's pure nostalgic bliss for me, especially since I've always enjoyed the film (overdue for a revisit). Really thankful to Intrada for getting this out.

Playing my CD now (it's on as I work from home...I will give it a proper listen later, while reading the booklet notes by John Takis, one of my favoured OST liner writers).
I always loved the track Marty's Apology and wanted it to be longer. Now it is smile
And much nearer the beginning of the CD, as opposed to the old Varese album, which moved it to the end.
Yes, the recording/mix is very odd on this one at times (old and new edition).
Nothing sounds quite were it should be, with certain sections blasting over others on occasion.
Piano and synths appear more front forward a lot of the times, with everything else playing behind them.
But it's a great score, very 'of its time', with the keyboards and rhythms, but a blast nonetheless.
A superior horror/thriller soundtrack from a time when music and melody weren't treated as the enemy.
It's quite the 'Member Berry' too.
The music really takes me back to the time and place of listening to the old LP (my bedroom of my parents house...20 year old me and my fast growing collection of Film Score albums).
Excellent stuff...Thanks Intrada.
