I am a high school music teacher and currently use iTunes on my ACER 2 TB laptop. I have been having some ongoing issues with the laptop (very slow in doing updates and sometimes it just zones out for a few hours which can be very frustrating). I am also using Windows 11 on the laptop and since installation, iTunes keeps closing (inconsistently... sometimes I might get an hour or two before closing but other times in can be just after 10 minutes). I am getting stuff saved onto an Ext HD for a complete reset of the laptop (and will try to go back to Windows 10 as well).

However, I recently discovered that the new iPad Pro has an A4 size screen and also can come with a 2TB drive. I went into the Apple store in Sydney yesterday to ask some questions but what they couldn't tell me was, since new Apple devices come without iTunes any more, how would I be able to access my hierarchy of files in the same way that I currently can on my ACER (and on my desktop at home). They said something about accessing stuff through 'files' but I wasn't convinced that my years of work creating multitude folders in iTunes would be accessible in the same way.

Any experts out there? (I have a feeling Lucas may be able to give me some advice but I think he is otherwise engaged atm lol).

"Apple Music" app replaces what was once called "iTunes" which contained, music, videos and post casts into one app. So technically "iTunes" still exists its just called something else.

Are the files stored locally? I am not that familiar with Apple products, but you could try setting up a shared network folder in order to access your Windows stuff on the iPad: https://osxdaily.com/2021/02/24/how-access-windows-shared-folder-iphone-ipad/. Something like OneDrive would work, too.

Personally, however, I'd try to stay away from Apple products. I'd try to get the Acer problem figured out before forking over money. How old is the Acer? Is the '2 TB' an SSD or an HDD? Downgrading to Windows 10 would definitely help, because each new version of Windows is more bloated than the previous one.

I thought "Apple Music App" is merely a streaming service app for the Mac with no ability to play or tag your local music collection? Not sure though, as I don't use a Mac currently.

Says right in the link I provided, "The Apple Music app and Apple TV app read the contents of your iTunes library — so don't delete your iTunes library."

While new Apple computers don't come with an internal burner drive you can purchase and hook up an external burner drive and import CD's into your music app like before. I believe Apple Music App looks and works pretty much the same as the old iTunes app, they just removed the video/books/podcast options.

I have thousands of CDs uploaded via iTunes on my Microsoft Surface, which I access on my Google Pixel phone and Pixelbook using the Apple Music app for Android.

So in my Apple product-less world, it's still iTunes on my pc but Apple Music everywhere else.

iTunes is occasionally a little buggy, but has been working fine for me (for hours) on my Surface, and similarly the Apple Music app generally works very well on my phone. I don't use it much on my Pixelbook.

The link is -- for me -- not quite clear, as it says "All of your music is now in the Apple Music app
The Apple Music app is where you can find all of your music, including music that you imported in to iTunes, purchased from the iTunes Store, and playlists and smart playlists that you created in iTunes. "

Well, I would hope my music stays where it is (in a folder called ".../music/ALAC"). But of course, if it means the music stays where it is an can be accessed to the Apple Music App, that would be different. Presumably, you can also curate and tag your music with Apple Music App? As I said, I am not currently using a Mac.

The details of the laptop are:
ACER Aspire 15" Notebook, Man. June 2018. 2TB, Intel Core i7 8th Gen 1.80GHz, 4GB, NVIDIA (I don't understand all of that lol)

So the laptop is relatively new and has somewhat decent components. The only thing which is lackluster is the amount of RAM. 4GB is not a whole lot of RAM, especially given how resource intensive operating systems are nowadays (e.g., Windows uses ~2GB of RAM while idling!), and this is the most likely reason why your laptop is performing poorly. But that's no reason to toss it aside and get something new.

Since your parenthetical note indicates that you aren't tech savvy, you should get a family member or friend or someone to install something like Lubuntu (a lightweight operating system) onto the laptop in order to restore it to 'life'. (I have restored machines much older than yours this way.) You should be able to install and use iTunes from there.

You could also look into upgrading the amount of RAM. 8GB should be good enough for Windows 10. 4GB just doesn't cut it.

What I'm saying is the "Apple Music" app works just like the "iTunes" app. They just removed movies, books and podcasts from the app and put it in their own dedicated apps.

Does the "Apple Music App" on MacOS import and tag CD based content, or do I have to use the old iTunes for that?
