I know this may be an odd choice, but this is my favorite STAR TREK score. The main theme is my favorite Goldsmith composition, and I enjoy the rest of the score too.
First Contact is definitely my favorite of the Goldsmith scores from the movie series. For me, the one that gets the most replays is actually from my least favorite entry:
Star Trek: Into Darkness (yes, I add the colon in there because otherwise the title looks damn stupid--just like J.J. Abrams' Khan-switcharoo)
Specifically, I enjoy Varese's CD Club deluxe edition and the track "Ode to Vengeance". There's just something that really resonates with me when it gets to the drums intermixed with the short bursts of the French horns (or maybe trumpets? I'm not good at identifying the differences TBH).

In this case I guess you need this book! THE MAKING OF STAR TREK FIRST CONTACT by Lou Anders Titan Books, 128 pages, December 1996, London ISBN 1 85286 779 5
4 pages 124 to 127 dealing with the Jerry Goldsmith's score.
I never connected with the score. Other than the Vulcan arrival music I can't remember a darn bit of the soundtrack. I even have the Deluxe Edition. I'll give it another go one day and see if I feel differently about it.

Hi Solium! Listen to the tracks WELCOME ABOARD, THE DISH and FLIGHT OF THE PHOENIX those are great tracks too.

This score was my gateway to Star Trek scores, so I have always held it in high regard. That said the first one ST:TMP is one of my favourite scores of all time.
