I don't know exactly why, but Last Crusade has always been my least favorite of the original films, both as a movie and the score. Raiders will always be about as close to as perfect of a movie as I can imagine, and as someone else said already, it's got a edgier feel to it that was lost in the next two, even the darker Temple of Doom. It'll always be my favorite of the Indy scores, but Temple of Doom is a hard and close second. I think the original poster said something about LC being the more thematic of the Indy scores, but I'd have to argue that one - TOD has got a balls-to-the-wall non-stop frenetic, amazing score with at least 10 themes right off the top of my head, lol, and I'm not stopping to try and remember them all. I get some people being thrown off by that score's wild intensity, but there are lots of days I love it more than even Raiders.

I have said that for a while, which runs against lots of nostalgic feelings people have for the first one. But I think the story and the themes and the overall entertainment of the 3rd film are the best of all of them. Sean Connery helps, and I think it is also the funniest of all the Indy films. Nostalgia plays no part in my preference for Raiders. It's just all around a great film and my choice for the greatest adventure film of my generation.
