At first I thought this was one of those inspired-by-some-video-game movies. But the synopsis reads "The true story of the high-stakes legal battle to secure the intellectual property rights to Tetris". So, a courtroom/thriller kind of movie?
I also checked a few stills from the movie and at least the color palette and vibes weirdly reminded me of Inception.

I cannot wait until Hollywood starts pillaging '80s cereal commercials for feature films. Really looking forward to Balfe's Lucky Charms- The Move (2025)
Listened to the soundtrack, and WOW -- I absolutely adore Balfe's "Puzzle Piece" track! I've been waiting for Balfe to do a sleaker, electronic thing like this. Those retro, baroque synth modulations are to die for. I wish the whole album was like that. Alas, the other score tracks aren't that interesting, and the rest of the album is a hodgepodge of things that I can give or take.
Listened to the track you recommended this morning Thor, it's great - reminded me of Wendy Carlos. Going to check out the film this weekend. I appreciate that the soundtrack album has a reworked version of the main Game Boy theme as well.

I was curious as to the soundscape of this score, thanks for the info!
Very interested in this score-only release. I quite liked the Balfe-specific pieces from the 1st release, despite not being any great fan of Balfe. But he has some surprises here and there.
Been jamming this all day! Highly recommended for folks out there who like Tangerine Dream or even John Carpenter. Some pieces even recall vintage Brad Fiedel synth work! Inexplicable why it doesn't have the Balfe tracks from the standard OST release but making a playlist is easy enough these days.
For this lifelong Tetris game fan, this music carries on the legacy of great synth and electronic music those games are known for. The filmmakers knew what they are doing so that actually inspires me to check the film out as well.
Hey Thor! Have you listened to the actual score album release yet? Maybe, like me, you had written off Balfe because I've never been impressed with his more symphonic stuff (Bargain Zimmer in the most banal sense) but this is a score I cannot get enough of. He really knows his way around a synth, and even my wife was bumping it this morning as she was getting ready for work!
Also, build yourself a playlist with the new score album release and the four Balfe tracks from the soundtrack release. You'll thank me. "Fall Into Place" is an overlooked one from that first release.
