Well...whatever it is..the best and safest thing to do is ,to get the ones you still need and like to get as fast as you can.

Fortunately, I have all of the titles with the exception of 'King of Kings', just kept delaying with one thing or another. I am hopeful the titles will be available in due course.

Screen Archives has a used copy right now!!! price is good too.. $25

I just had a curious vision of a Govt storeroom somewhere filled to the rafters with boxes of Tadlow discs while the Raiders Ark music plays in the background...

We all hope that Mr. Fitzpatrick is doing well and I hope that one day he will contact us here, especially since the topic has almost 22,000 views, which means a lot of interest of what happening. I'm wondering what's next for Tadlow's catalog - I don't want to believe that those great recordings especially those newest, such as Dracula, King of Kings or Ben-Hur, which are on the market for a short time, will simply disappear overnight.

Bumping this thread because I wonder that maybe anyone knows anything about Tadlow's status at the moment?

It's been a long time since last conversations in this thread and unfortunately there's still no official information.

The Tadlow website is functioning normally and there is no information about a possible suspension of activity.

Is Tadlow's Music still available? Because on most sites for record stores albums Tadlow and Prometheus are unfortunately OOP.

Tadlow Records is officially dissolved, unfortunately. That means the company is no longer capable of doing any business, it does no longer exist.
The website is still functioning, probably legacy (and paid for) contracts and services/server that have not been shut down yet.

With no "top men" working on them.

Only that the company missed its filing deadlines, which is why it was compulsory dissolved.

Why it missed it's filing deadlines, we don't know.

To explain, in the UK, if you run a limited company, you're obliged to provide accounts and confirmation statements on an annual basis to Companies House to stay registered.

You get plenty of time to do it, and they'll send reminders to the company officers, but if you still don't file by the deadlines, they initiate a compulsory dissolution.

Thanks for the explanation, Stephen.

It really is a very sad thing, and not knowing the details (not for any salacious reasons, merely to understand the situation more fully) makes it even more so. That and the health issues that James has dealt with ... (sigh) ... I'm hoping he is well.

Thinking back a bit, I could really credit a handful of those Silva albums that James oversaw as introducing me to much music for the first time, often from composers who I wasn't aware of or had heard little from. The two albums that showed me there was a lot of wonderful music to Hitchcock movies by others not named Herrmann; the Williams one headlined by SCHINDLER'S LIST, featuring selections to BLACK SUNDAY; or, to this day, the only music available from THE RARE BREED; all the Moross that also to this day is primarily responsible for a great deal of available material from that inventive composer; RAISE THE TITANIC and a lot of other Barry...even something as relatively recent as MISTER MOSES that, while undertaken for Prometheus, was still guided by James. So many riches, and we all know them.

I recall reading (probably here) that TARAS BULBA, my favorite of all of James' recordings, was apparently not a financial success. It's kind of incredible any of these albums the labels put out are successful enough to warrant continued investment in future releases, whether original soundtrack recordings or a new recording, a term (if I recall) that James would use over calling it a rerecording, to stress that music does not need to be limited to the one initial interpretation only. I'm happy to have the original OBSESSION, but I also wouldn't part with the Tadlow release. Or something like LAWRENCE OF ARABIA, where the original no longer exists.

I'm kind of rambling. I guess it's my way of saying thanks to James. Again, I wish him well.

Very very sad.TADLOW was fantastic and so important for the preservation of classic filmscores.

Regarding the sales etc.
When you look at the recordings of EL CID..EXODUS...LAWRENCE OF ARABIA...OBSESSION and especially ( and my favorite of them all ) TARAS BULBA, which for me is a classical masterpiece in the same league as some of Prokofievs,Stravinskys,Mahlers,Wagners,Bruckners work etc etc...
and considering the big target audience all over the world for classsical music..it seems that this target (listening) audience hasn´t been reached out to.
Or ,maybe, these scores are still not considered being masterpieces and worthy components for the classical listeners?

Came across this insightful interview with James Fitzpatrick on Tadlow and recording music in Prague.

While Tadlow Records is now history, I really hope that James is ok.

Ah yes. I have pleasant memories of that interview which we did over lunch in a country pub near James’ house. Hard to believe that it’s 12 years since then. Very best wishes James, if you’re reading this.

Of course 2011 was 12 years ago, not more more than 20. I forgot there were some holdups in getting Quo Vadis done!

As I've said earlier, and others have echoed, I hope James is doing okay. I recently picked up some stuff that I'd just not got around to getting yet - Quo Vadis, King of Kings, True Grit and Sodom and Gomorrah - and look forward to giving them a listen. I was surprised they were available. I figured some of these releases would be hard to come by with Tadlow shut down.

Ahh...now I remember the name James Fitzpatrick from those early 90s Tangerine Dream releases on Silva Screen like DEAD SOLID PERFECT...

I'm sad to have missed out on Notre Dame de Paris, Villa Rides, Is Paris Burning?, and Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
