That really depends on if the Disney vault is even open. When was the last release from a Disney movie?

Willow (Lucasfilm being Disney owned now)

I keep forgetting that’s a Lucasfilm property. It still remains to be seen if Disney will ever allow Intrada to do the animated films Newton Howard scored. I remember a few years ago that Intrada tried to get Atlantis, but were turned down for the same reasons that they couldn’t do Mulan or The Rescuers (that being that Disney wanted to do those scores themselves, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Mulan turned out to be the next Legacy Release).

As for Peter Pan, I haven’t seen this version since my family saw it in theaters when it first came out (I was nine years old at the time). I only remember bits and pieces, but thought it was a pretty good adaptation of the story, but preferred the Disney version, and to a lesser extent, the Mary Martin musical. Upon revisiting clips of the film, I’m definitely considering picking this up.

Highly doubt JNH animated scores will be considered Legacy series. Mulan it was said was off limits at the time.

I was referring to the last release from a project that started out as a Disney movie.

The Rocketeer in 2020 and who knows how long that was in development for.

  • Teens are always the most attractive audience base for movie theaters. Are you telling me that you weren't a teen in these halcyon days of the 80s before the PG-13 rating was created and seeing "edgy adult" pictures like A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise and other popular R-rated pictures of that time?

Blame fragile parents groups and wannabe moral leaders for the PG-13 rating, not the audience that goes to the movie theaters without fail every weekend for the last 5 decades.

  • I'm honestly having trouble knowing what it means today, other than a hustle to seem edgy and attract teens.

    Keyword: TODAY.

Of course it was necessary in the 80s, when hearts were being disembodied and rebellious teens were mass murdered by quaint paratroopers, but TODAY it seems more like a codified hustle, with two allowable "fucks", cauterized gunshot wounds, the gradual disappearance of womens' areolas, and (according to Black Panther) magically bloodless throat cuts. Conversely (according to This Film Is Not Yet Rated), the MPAA was never known to adhere to precedence, mainly due to maintaining the convenience of how nebulous its ratings practice has always been.

Not to mention the failed rating that is NC-17, which merely translated into a trademarkable X, with all the porn trappings, minus any ultraviolence.

The MPAA is a BS organization with nebulous rules, I totally agree with that.

Intrada did do The Rescuers Down Under though.

Also the end credits suite is billed as 'extended'. So originally they were longer?

The end credits, which uses alternate versions of "Flying," "Fairy Dance," "Please Don't Die" and "Peter Returns" was edited during post production, but on the Intrada release the music is unedited.

Someone on the John Williams Fan Network message board has posted pictures of the booklet with Douglas Fake's tech talk and the cue assembly.

Also came yesterday, also one play. Glorious. If I have one niggle it's during a couple of places someone puts a drum kit on full blast. There's an orchestra and choir going like the clappers and a drummer takes over. Maybe they don't get out of their garage much.

As per FSM, not much chat about this release once it has landed in collectors' homes (is that 2 I see above me).
Maybe it needed some glitches in sound or post strike issues!! wink
At 112 minutes, it's pretty lengthy stuff. And epic too.
I will have a whittle, after a few plays, to edit out any excessive 'mickey mousing' or atmospheric brooding.
I'll aim towards a solid 60 minute presentation, but will see how it goes.
Disc 2, which features a lot of solid 'previously unavailable' material, is really strong.
And yes, as noted above, Disc 1 ends perfectly with the triumphant resolution of I Do Believe In Fairies, so good call from Intrada on that one.
I haven't delved into the liner notes yet, but the whole package is up to Intrada's usual top-notch standard.
I'll be back with more thoughts and my 'whittle' on a future date, but yeah everyone, keep hitting us with all those post match comments.

    ORDERED!!!

    WHERE'S MY CD??????

    INTRADA SUCK!!!

    big grin

I'm actually getting this today, in an order with Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Hmm, kind of an odd double feature, but that's how soundtrack fans roll!

I always thought the lengthy End Credits Suite was just a collection of already available cues from the film, and while it does feature some parts reprised, it also has some original material that makes it a keeper (I was gonna kill it in the whittle).
