MOVIESCORE MEDIA LAUNCHES CD ON DEMAND RELEASES WITH PANU AALTIO'S 'RANGERS OF THE LOST RING'

We are delighted to announce our first title available on CD on demand from our new partners over at CD Click. While we will continue to sub-license selected albums to other labels, such as our friends at Quartet Records, we will make sure that all of our forthcoming releases are always available in physical format.

The CDs are €16.95 and manufactured on demand with full colour printing and on highest quality CDr media that, according to the manufacturer, has an expected longevity of 50 years! We can't tell the difference from a regular CD!

Panu Aaltio's Rangers of the Lost Ring is the first album that is now available in this format and we hope that fans who prefer the physical product will appreciate the work and passion that goes into making these CDs available on demand and will support this initiative! Please let us know what you think!

Great! I would definitely choose a professional CD-R with booklet and everything over a download.

Excellent! The more labels, the merrier.

This hopefully begins the pendulum swinging back towards physical releases for everyone!

I wouldn't hold your breath...

The other specialist labels already release their product physically (Moviescore Media was unusual in this respect) and the big boys... well, no. Even if they wanted to, there are no plants left to press them!

Brilliant.
JEEPERS CREEPERS 3 is one of the best fake orchestral scores I've ever heard.
It totally fooled me while I was watching the film.
And I've been impressed by many other scores I've heard by AM-S.
This one has a real orchestra too.

Why are they not doing a 5.1. (or even better) blu-ray-audio then as well ?

We're not doing 5.1 blu-ray audio releases of our albums because you're the first one to ask for it. No demand. Too costy. That we're even going back to doing CDs (on demand) is a big step for us and something we do to make fans who demand physical product happier.

Sure, but I won't buy a CD-R with only 2ch/16bit/44.1kHz audio-quality contents !! Sorry.
If you go this way - go bigly big grin
Maybe multi-channel Audio-DVD-Rs ?

Wouldn't the sound quality on a CD-R be the same as that on a regular CD release?
The only difference being that it's not a pressed CD?

Great News!!

It would have been better if it was a pressed CD, but it's an excellent attempt and a great change.

The only potential "issue" is longevity, with CD-Rs not expected to last as long as a pressed CD. A lot of that depends on the manufacturing quality of the disc, of course. Then there's the printing quality of the inserts.

Longevity could be an issue, especially with lower quality cd-r (which doesn't seem the case here), but the sound quality is also slightly inferior, due to the fact that the production process is fundamentally different (cd-r are "burned", cd's are "pressed").
it's more of an audiophile issue, but it does exist..in my classical collection I I took the time (and the money) substituted quite a few recent cd-r releases (especially from the Sterling label) with the original issue on cd, from the secondary market.
In a high end stereo rig, there is a, admittedly small, difference.
All that said, I will take the cd-r anyday over some immaterial stuff floating in the cloud.
