Steven Knight (PEAKY BLINDERS) is the writer. THE EXORCIST---Linda Blair reportedly has a small role in the Blumhouse sequel to the 1973 horror movie. A Blumhouse spokesperson did not confirm Blair was a cast member by saying, “Linda Blair served as an advisor on the upcoming Exorcist film”. AVERAGE HEIGHT, AVERAGE BUILD---Robert Pattinson and Robert Downey, Jr. will star in this Adam McKay movie about a serial killer who becomes a politician who introduces legislation to make murder more acceptable. Levar Burton said, “What the writers have done is they have really set it up well. You have got the next generation of The NEXT GENERATION. The La Forge sisters, one’s an engineer, the other’s a pilot. We’ve got Jack Crusher, Seven of Nine. It makes a whole lot of sense.” THE LORD OF THE RINGS---Elijah Wood commented on returning to the franchise, “Reboot… I don't know about that, but if there's more films that potentially involve Frodo, I would be down.” JONI MITCHELL---Cameron Crowe and Joni Mitchell are developing movie about Mitchell that is described as,“not a traditional biopic in the conventional sense of the word, nor is it a documentary. Instead, it’s akin to an autobiography.” TRIVIA---in THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER, Gates McFadden played Jack Ryan's wife, Caroline. She explained why she did not return for the sequel PATRIOT GAMES starring Harrison Ford, "...that was Alec Baldwin. He asked for too much money, and they said no. But I was supposed to. I would have gone on and done the second movie. That's why it was a tiny part in the first one, but it was going to be a bigger part in the second one. But then they just said [to Alec], 'Nope, we're not paying you that money.' And they went and they cast Harrison Ford, so they couldn't have the same woman playing his wife. That hurt." McFadden was replaced by Anne Archer in PATRIOT GAMES. In THE HUNT FOR RED OCTOBER, Gates McFadden played Jack Ryan's wife, Caroline McFadden was replaced by Anne Archer in PATRIOT GAMES.

BIG SHARK---trailer released for the Tommy Wiseau big shark movie. LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PkpUEHiefM Oh, lord. I'm not even going to watch that. But I had to look up if it was a shark attack movie and not just a title for a mob boss film. Yes, it's a shark movie. So … I hope they named the shark "Lisa", so when it's eating a guy, he can say, "YOU'RE TEARING ME APART, LISA!"

How much did Baldwin ask for if they found Ford a megastar at this point more affordable?! Perhaps not more affordable, maybe they felt his popularity justified his fee even if it was more than Baldwin was asking for. EDIT: To be clear, I don't know what either actor asked for or how their fees would have compared.

I hope they get a 1980's composer and let him do a 1980's style score with large orchestra. Which will be recorded right after the U.F.O. lands bringing us all the cookies in the universe.

Solo and Baldwin shoot first. Ford, not so much.

Good point. Maybe Ford did cost more but was a more bankable and cooperative actor to work with. Another good point! Baldwin certainly isn't famous for being cooperative. Having met him once for about three minutes, it was enough to get this vibe loud and clear.

Haha! I guess I just don't see the attraction of setting a film in the 80's. Great decade for films and film scores but otherwise a rather boring decade from my recollection. Not for me. The music, fashions, the Cold War posturing, technological advancements, TV shows, all sorts of social changes. It was a pretty exciting decade of change.

I understand. I guess I just don't care about fashion and trends. That was also the decade I probably had the most fun and growth. Those were "my days." I graduated high school in 1986, so there was no way for me to escape all of the new fashions, music, TV and such. MTV and Miami Vice alone changed the look and sound of my life without my watching either of them.
