Films are Stories...narrated in parts through visuals in my opinion. If the visuals are more important than the story ..I think the movie ( in most cases ) fails. At least I can´t think of any gorgeous shot movie, that has a weak story that succeeds to deliver...No? And Andersons movies ( which I do sometimes enjoy, because of the unique visuals and the wacky characters ) often lack story . But well.....doesn´t really matter ,for again it´s individual taste...
We'll have to agree to disagree. I've never seen a lack of story in a Wes Anderson film. They are always built on story and character first and foremost. The films were made after the script was written and re-written.

Perfectly stated.
I really can’t understand the argument that Anderson‘s movies don’t have an engaging story or that they only are interested in their visuals. It is simply not true.
Maybe it could be stated that he recycled thematics or story elements, but so does every great director. So I'd have to question if that would even be a great criticism or just an observation that the "artist" has an interiority that is often explored in their "art."
I hope the songs+score album still materializes as a physical thingy (CD, not only vinyl, please), but I'll grab the digital tracks of Desplat's music in the meantime, as what's not to love? I know his (and Anderson's) approach over six movies generally favors direct economy, but (here especially) it's the unique, creative timbre that's a joy to follow along and be immersed in. Still need to see the movie, but the music is wonderful.
