SEASON 1:
After he was Matt Houston, he was Ethan Allan Cord. Attention readers: I have been implementing a system that is nothing more than a note to myself; for cues that I want to include in a suite one day, for now on I will denote them with ^ symbol. It has no special meaning to anyone else but myself. No, the lack of an up arrow symbol doesn't mean the cue is bad (it just may have too much SFX or FX for suite use or just isn't worth my time to edit and include). Hence forth this system will be in all future threads and pre-exiting threads that I go back to for missed episodes. Anything in ( ) are just notes to the arrow and you need not bother with that. The system does not mean that I will make a suite or that one has been made, it's simply for my own reference if and when I do decide to. Exciting chase music.^ 40:44 in.^ 42:41 in.^ I'll go ahead and say it: Lee Horsley as a cowboy with a sidearm, feels just right for him. I dare say had this been a more gritty show, minus the children (maybe a bounty hunter type thing), it would have been awesome. Can you believe he's 67 years old now? Continuing SEASON 1:
"The Traveler" By: Ken Harrison https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cS7uTulo9qg Highlights: 1:41 in. Also featuring the five-note motif from "MacGyver" that Ken liked to use.^ 5:14 in. 8:57 in.^ 10:35 in.^ 12:22 in. And the cue after the commercial break, which is two action/chase cues that together come to a total of over eight minutes. The second cue is over six minutes long and Ken drives it with a small ensemble of instruments. I know I've said it before, but he was a very talented composer.^ 31:31 in.^ 34:06 in.^ 39:46 in.^ 43:02 in.^ (NtM: composer credit -- 45:07 in) "The Secret" By: Christopher Klatman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPOMVnFlLB8 Highlights: 1:42 in.^ 29:11 in.^ 31:26 in.^ 33:59 in. I feel a talented composer like Warren was just wasted here. On a set of season one scoring, I'd only take the first highlight. It was already a cliché in the 1980's of hostage situation in the old west were one bad guy wants to rape one of the female hostages, but by the time this aired, it was just lazy writing. And the cue after the commercial break.^ 43:04 in.^(43:43) This first two efforts by Warren, he added an odd choice of "In the Heat of the Night" wordless jazz scat vocals to the guitar, just like the aforementioned series. Wouldn't surprise me if it's the same guy -- sounds like him. (NtM: composer credit -- 44:41 in) "Vengeance" By: Ken Harrison https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4THQx5H0mg This is the final effort by Harrison for the series. Highlights: 2:41 in.^ 7:11 in.^ 9:59 in.^ 14:47 in.^ 16:59 in. 23:25 in.^ 26:36 in. Sad emotional cue with strings, woodwinds and brass taking the lead. On its own right, good music, but woefully inappropriate for the scene; even today being chased by a big bear like that, can be deadly.^ 28:41 in.^ 34:26 in. SEASON 2:
This season has shortened the series name to simply "Paradise". The theme music has also been shortened. The quality of the loads for this season are VHS TV broadcast quality. And the end credits are cut off (unless otherwise noted). "A Gathering of Guns (Part I)" By: Christopher Klatman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n2pgo6dv0ok Highlights: 3:28 in.^ 14:35 in. 27:09 in. 28:55 in. 31:26 in.^ 38:33 in.^ 43:02 in.^ 44:54 in.^ "A Gathering of Guns (Part II)" By: Dan Foliart https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ij1n8MKrJ2c Highlights: 2:14 in.^ 10:46 in.^ 11:48 in. 19:45 in.^(parts) 29:17 in.^ 30:57 in.^ 35:32 in.^ 36:52 in.^(open) 37:29 in.^ Another fine effort by Foliart. It's a shame he got typecast in comedy television and rarely was able to escape it. It would kick ass if he was given a shot at "The Orville". Foliart has a few cues on his website for the listening: https://danfoliart.com/music/guns-of-paradise/ Nostalgia lives in this episode. Yes, that is Gene Barry, and yes -- he is playing Bat Masteron -- the same character he played in the show "Bat Masteron", in 1958. And yes -- that's Hugh O'Brian playing Wyatt Earp -- the same character he played on the TV series "The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp" back in 1955. This apparently re-invigorated interest in Gene playing Bat, so during the last year of the show, there was a TV movie unrelated to this series, where Gene played Bat Masteron one more time. And both characters are in the first two parts. Earp stays for the third part. Continuity Error: The whole idea of season one was Ethan was a wanted man. Two episodes even had him being hauled away for trial, which he avoided both times. Yet now it's forgotten and when Ethan sees the news paper prominently mentioning him, he doesn't even mention it. "Home Again" (Part III) By: Jerrold Immel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoB1-QKRnXY Highlights: in.^ 3:58 in.^ 10:31 in.^ 12:29 in.^ 14:32 in. 18:49 in.^ 20:48 in. 31:07 in. 32:50 in.^ 34:48 in.^ 36:22 in.^ Claire: "If you can't help people, nothing will change. "Dead Run" By: ????? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59zsDFT_jKY Highlights: 3:20 in. 6:10 in. 8:46 in.^ 16:11 in.^ 21:46 in. 37:43 in. 40:16 in.^ What a terrible episode, when compared to the first season. It's got one of those lame flimsy excuses for the bad guys that you got from the poorer episodes of "Gunsmoke", followed by a raging hate boners from the baddies to the end. "All the Pretty Little Horses" By: Jerrold Immel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZxwpZ-0e8NU Highlights: 2:25 in.^ 3:42 in. 5:12 in.^ 9:14 in.^ 13:29 in. 18:17 in.^ 23:15 in.^ 26:57 in.^ 32:30/34:12 in.^ 36:44 in. 37:36 in. 43:21 in.^ Lord, the opening credits was truncated to maybe at best eight seconds. Don't get me wrong -- the end was amusing, but it's totally out of character for Ethan. "Orphan Train" By: Richard Lewis Warren https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCdwPMJPtE8 Highlights: 1:48 in.^ 16:11 in. 23:57 in. 25:34 in.^ 26:17 in. 28:10 in.^ 31:19 in. 36:09 in.^ 37:57 in. The late Geoffrey Lewis masterfully plays the evil Captain. He died in 2017. Exciting music for baseball.^ 31:06 in.^ 38:19 in.^ With a theme that sounds like one of the themes from "Jaws". Ethan: "Now, you children shouldn't have done that. I would have done it. But you shouldn't have done that." "Boom Town" By: Jerrold Immel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MD7BMB9yYA Highlights: 0:00 in.^ 5:13 in.^ 15:12 in.^ 19:38 in. 29:21 in. 36:30 in.^ 38:34 in.^ 40:30 in. And the cue after the commercial break.^(second: 21:??) 23:06 in.^ 30:19 in.^ 32:49 in. And the cue after the commercial break.^ 38:39 in.^ Lord, I thought that about ten seconds of truncated theme was short, but this one is shortened to like maybe four seconds. Warren brings an unusual level of spirited scoring to the episode, given how easy it would have been to fall into simple tropes. The prisoner Bishop is played perfectly by P.L. Brown, who is still alive and working. He's engaging, got a strong presence, and can act; I wonder -- looking over his resume -- why he's done so little and never gotten a break. A person like him could lead a show, given the right characters and ideas. Oh well. I assume his IMDb credits are incomplete, since just after this credit, there is a fifteen year gap! "Dangerous Cargo" By: Dan Foliart https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziy7nQbLEuE Highlights: 0:00 in.^ 4:46 in.^ 9:18 in.^ 11:44 in.^ 14:39 in.^ 18:52 in.^ 21:35 in. And the cue that begins a few seconds after this one ends.^ 28:25 in.^ 30:37/32:10 in.^ 35:58 in.^ 38:10 in.^ 41:00 in.^ Foliart does a wonderful job here. At times almost Emmy nomination worthy. At times a composer of lesser compositional abilities would take that Chinese theme or dramatic moment, and shift or shoehorn it in, but when Dan did it, he weaved them in to work with the score naturally. Man, that little brunette girl is almost as evil as the girl who used Bart in in episode of "The Simpsons". See -- this is why you should get a blonde. ;-)

And the special end credits music which follows (unfortunately some announcer voice is over part of the lovely cue).^ Sad and emotional score with soft tender moments. Dare I say that Foliart was the right choice to score this episode. NO LOAD FOUND. "The Coward" By: Jerrold Immel "The Chase" By: Richard Lewis Warren (as "Richard Warren") https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvuvfT6NiMg NOTE: This loads has jumps, but only like about a second or even two at a time. SEASON 3:
This final season features and entirely new opening theme: action oriented and with a drum machine. This is presumably by Immel. The original theme is kept for the end credits (but sounds like a new arrangement). "Out of Ashes" By: Jerrold Immel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykQ3LF2nDFs NOTE: This loads has jumps, but only like about a second or even two at a time. Highlights: 0:00 in.^ 4:49 in. 10:22 in.^ 26:12 in.^ 39:18 in. Now that's some fine cowboy music, fitting for what's happening and what Cord is riding out to do.^ 43:14 in. More awesome music for Ethan, for a scene that was obviously a long time coming. And the "Next on Paradise" music, which in an unusual choice, is SFX free -- just music for the scenes.^ Thankfully the music budget wasn't cut for this new season. I think this score should have been nominated for an Emmy. "I ride alone!" Ethan: "You can walk alone, too." Ethan: Fair's got no place in a gun fight, son." "The Bounty" By: Dan Foliart https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E-SChr1MpMo NOTE: This loads has jumps, but onlt like about a second or even two at a time. Highlights: 0:00 in. 7:14 in. 11:46 in.^ 15:35 in.^ 17:12 in.^ 22:02 in.^ 25:30 in.^ 27:50 in. 30:59 in.^ 35:24 in.^ 38:44 in.^ 40:57 in. And the special end credits music which follows.^ A fine effort by Foliart. "You can't just leave me here like this." Ethan: "You'd be surprised at what I can do." "The Women" By: Jerrold Immel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpwQn8apy4k This is the final effort by Immel for the series. Continuing SEASON 3:
"Bad Blood" By: Richard Lewis Warren (as "Richard Warren") https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CP7TebXNWYY NOTE: This loads has jumps, but only like about a second or even two at a time. Highlights: 0:00 in.^ 3:38 in.^ 6:32 in.^ 11:58 in.^ 14:15 in.^ 16:36 in.^ 17:22 in. 25:23 in. 27:35 in.^ 30:25 in. 33:19 in.^ 39:27 in. To the close of the episode; about six minutes long. The "Next, on Paradise" music-only track follows and it sounds like it's different than the one I noted before.^ Another good score from Warren. This episode finally takes care of the threat that has been hanging over Ethan's head since the premiere episode. And it feels right and that this was the time; it needed to be wrapped up and the character be allowed to move on. "The Valley of Death" By: Dan Foliart https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QniapsW01Q NOTE: This loads has jumps, but only like about a second or even two at a time. Highlights: 0:00 in. Opening with lovely wedding music.^ 1:54 in.^ 3:51 in. 7:15 in.^ 8:49 in.^ 13:36 in. 18:01 in.^ 25:31 in. And the cue after the commercial break.^ 34:53 in.^ 38:28 in. 41:10 in. And the preview music which follows, which again appears to be different.^ This is the second episode where John Taylor cites something for being the reason he's a hermit. I suspect since the series is almost over, we'll never know the story behind it. He was an good character who was never really explored too much. Bad Guy: "Gunfighter turned lawman -- they always know too much..." "A Bullet Through the Heart" By: Christopher Klatman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHBJGxJISf4 NOTE: This loads has jumps, but only like about a second or even two at a time. Highlights: 2:27 in. 12:47 in.^ 15:40 in.^ 17:06 in.^ 25:33 in. 41:57 in. And the special end credits music which follows.^ I'll admit, I didn't see that ending coming. I have to say: I like the character Tiny and the acting by John F. Bloom. It was very disappointing to learn many things by going over his IMDb page: this was his only work as a regular character, he only had two more bit parts before his acting career came to a halt in 1992, and he died in 1999. Very sad. He had the potential, in my eyes, to carry his own series. "See No Evil" By: Christopher Klatman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GMiVqBQBVoA NOTE: This loads has jumps, but only like about a second or even two at a time. Highlights: 1:47 in. 17:36 in.^ 19:22 in. 22:50 in. 26:09 in.^ 35:43 in.^ 41:33 in.^ 43:25 in. And the special end credits cue which follows.^ On a set of season three scoring, there's not much I'd take away from this. I might even skip it to make room for cues from episodes with excellent scores. Well, I wouldn't skip the end credits cue.

Continuing SEASON 3:
"Birthright" By: Richard Lewis Warren (as "Richard Warren") https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IFU66NHvKE NOTE: This loads has jumps, but only like about a second or even two at a time. Highlights: 0:00 in.^ 21:51 in.^ 24:39 in.^ 27:28 in. 29:22 in. 31:55 in. 33:53 in. 37:03 in.^ 38:46 in.^ 42:51 in. And the "Next, on Guns of Paradise" cue. And the special end credits cue which follows.^ Final episode with the character Amelia, who was played by Sigrid Thornton. According to her website, she left the show because it was cancelled, but that doesn't explain why she couldn't be in the final five episodes (most cast did), so I suspect there is a hidden explanation. "A Study in Fear" By: Dan Foliart https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcvCQRCUL0o NOTE: This loads has jumps, but only like about a second or even two at a time. Not that many in this load. Highlights: 0:46 in.^(1:28) 18:31 in.^ 23:05 in.^ 25:06 in. 28:00 in. 33:58 in. 37:20 in.^ 39:42 in. And both the next episode preview music and the special end credits music which follows.^ "The Search for K.C. Cavanaugh" By: Christopher Klatman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWuZMgJOIrA NOTE: This loads has jumps, but only like about a second or even two at a time. Highlights: 1:26 in.^ 24:28 in.^ 25:55 in. 31:16 in.^ 39:07 in.^ 42:31 in. And preview music which follows. And the special end credits music which follows that (partially talked over by a TV announcer).^ There's not much score in this episode. In fact, aside from source cues, the first half of the episodes only has two cues (I cited only one).

Finishing SEASON 3:
"Shield of Gold" By: Richard Lewis Warren https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NyaFsK-IDUE Alternative link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ywU1L37qVIQ (this one has the end credits) (load used; no jumps) NOTE: This loads has jumps, but only like about a second or even two at a time. Highlights: 1:13 in.^ 11:47 in. 13:46 in.^ 16:05 in. 20:25 in. 25:04 in.^ 34:48 in.^ 35:32 in. And the cue after the commercial break. 40:11 in.^ 42:36 in. And the special end credits music which follows.^ We learn a little more about John Taylor's character. "Twenty-Four Hours" By: Dan Foliart https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TH54wUHJoiU NOTE: This loads has jumps, but only like about a second or even two at a time. Highlights: 0:00 in.^ 8:57 in. Volume level jumps up during the cue on this load. 34:28 in. Tender/wistful string work. 41:49 in. And the special end credits music after the "Next, on Guns of Paradise" music (which this time I think is a version already used before).^(end credits) John Taylor: "Amelia will be back." Ethan: "How do you know?" John Taylor: "I'm old. I'm wise." "Unfinished Business" (final episode) By: Christopher Klatman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wlI8Kjz-PGU NOTE: This loads has jumps, but only like about a second or even two at a time. Highlights: 5:04 in.^ 10:12 in. 16:15 in.^ 21:29 in. 25:28 in. 42:04 in. 43:59 in. And the special end credits music which follows (unfortunately, a part of it is talked over by a TV announcer).^ Geez, the final episode is a clip show that feels like a late-game idea. Maybe cancellation was given only about ten episodes ago. I'm not entirely sure what I cited was original scoring or score inside other episodes. And that was that for the series. No spin-off's, no TV movies, no remakes, no continuations, etc.

ADDITIONAL, UNCREDITED, STOCK MUSIC COMPOSERS:
Culled from BMI and ASCAP. Some of these might be from projects with a similar name; BMI and ASCAP make no distinction. In no particular order: Harvey R. Cohen. (listed with Immel) Christopher Caliendo. (also listed with Immel on ASCAP) Don Nemitz. (for Warren) William Ross. (probably for Harrison) Mark McKenzie. (listed with Klatman on ASCAP) Mark E. Watters. (listed alone and also with Klatman) These two might be from different projects: David Vanacore. Rachel Portman. As usual, there has been, of course, no release of the show's scoring. No known promos either. Other Threads I Have Created or Commented in About TV Scores:
PLEASE NOTE: There are some shows left off, that I created as place holders to, for new TV series, incase I wanted to cover them later, but changed my mind.
