I heard he'd lent his name to some furniture that he's now making.

What are you talking about? He has done several things after 2016 and he has several things coming up. https://m.imdb.com/name/nm0653211/ Have you seen those credits? Not a single feature film. Not as composer, editor, or director. Conductor? He's never conducted anything prior to this, so I am not sure I believe that. I hope Singer's friendship hasn't hurt. I hope he is doing well. Was so happy to see him producing Trek, if only for one season. Wish he'd do more. Direct some episodes. Score some. That would have been SO cool. Anyway, wishing the best for him. He has 4 films coming up.

Absolutely love his music. Damn shame he hasn't scored anything in so long. I hope he still has a desire for composing. Not to get off on a rant here, but the backlash over his Oscar win persists even today, with detractors pointing out one minute long scene (in a two hour, fifteen minute movie, mind you) that is (in their view) erratically edited, but instead of taking into account the issues behind the production and that Ottman did the best with what he was given, they grab onto that one scene like a dog with a bone and apply it to the entirety of the movie. It's been some time since I've seen it, but I sincerely doubt the entire film was edited like that. Typical modern bullshit; instead of offering solutions to what they perceive to be problems, they just harp on said problems. So, yeah, I miss Ottman as a composer...and an editor. No one can watch the finale of The Usual Suspects and not think he was the true hero of that film.
