There's a new book—almost 400 pages—about the series and its score: https://www.amazon.com/Music-Victory-Sea-Richard-Masterpiece/dp/1648250629/ref=sr_1_1?crid=DHABP08ID5YP&keywords=the+music+for+victory+at+sea&qid=1684853131&s=books&sprefix=the+music+for+victory+at+sea%2Cstripbooks%2C120&sr=1-1 It tells how NBC came to produce the 26-episode series (did you know Robert Montgomery was originally the narrator?), hire Richard Rodgers and Robert Russell Bennett for the music, get all the film from other countries, deal with the Musicians Union for the recordings, and so on. The "Thirteen Hours of Music" is really only about 11-1/2 hours of music played by the NBC Symphony musicians, but the whole story is here, including hundreds and hundreds of musical examples from the score, tracking each episode individually. The twelve piano themes by Richard Rodgers are printed as he wrote them, so you'll see exactly what his twelve-minute contribution to "Victory at Sea" was. Amazon doesn't seem to be selling the E-book, but you can find it at the publisher's website, where you can also get a 35% discount on the hardback with the promo code "BB135" until August this year: https://boydellandbrewer.com/9781648250620/the-music-for-ivictory-at-seai/
