A new concert tour, CD/LP, for a father and son tribute.

Here's the opening track from the forthcoming CD...

Some nice early nods to GBU and EIGER SANCTION (can you spot any others?).

I think there are some 'piccolo' arpeggios from the $s films.
Oh, it's quite good too.

Sounds magnificent. It's got a Sept. 1st, 2023 release for the LPs & CD. But there's no sign that this concert will be on DVD.

I heard GBU flourishes in the first minute...then it sounded entirely like John Williams for the rest.

"...no sign that this concert will be on DVD"
--------------------------------
That's just probably me misreading the home page blurbs on the website (I'll edit my top info).

This album is now available. I'm listening to the full album on YouTube. Gotta grab the CD somewhere.

And, while there's no DVD, there is a concert performance that will be on YouTube on the Arte Concert page. It premieres Sept.5th '23. This was performed in October 2022 in Auditorium De Lyon, France.

My CD arrived during the week, but I haven't played it yet.
It's a cardboard digi-pak, for those who are upset by such things.
Pressed CD though.
No booklet, but a fold out poster with all the credits/track info on the other side.
Looks very nice.
I'll chime back when it's been spun.

This CD is a really nice, chilled, laid-back listen.
Cool background music for a dinner party or small, social drinks get-together.
The Jazz-Offs (when the sax, trumpet, piano or bass ad-lib the melody or go off on a tangent) are well saddled alongside the symphony orchestra and don't stray too far away from the main melody (well, most times*).
I absolutely LOVE the BRIDGES OF MADISON COUNTY rendition. Love at first play, that was.
I wasn't as bowled over by GRAN TORINO, the Eastwood/Cullum/Niehaus score I really like otherwise.
Not being the biggest 'jazzer' in the world, I'm surprised by how well I've taken to these versions.
Maybe that's because they're not really 'out OUT there' jazz, more 'Hooked On Jazz-ics'.
My only slight (sad) regret with the album, is that there isn't anything by Jerry Fielding represented.
OUTLAW JOSEY WALES or (more jazz-likely) THE ENFORCER/THE GAUNTLET would have been fitting.
Never mind, it's still a fun album and a great tribute.

*the 8 minute EIGER SANCTION is probably the most 'Fast Show/Jazz Club' in that regard.

Looking forward to hearing this. I tend to enjoy his arrangements.

Curious though..... what the heck is on the 10" that comes with the book? I can't find a single thing that says what it is. I don't even want it, but it's driving me mad! big grin

I must have dozed off before the end of the CD last night (I would guess through FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS) cos I'm only hearing A FISTFUL OF DOLLARS (Mega Jazz Mix) right now for the first time.
And it's Jazzy J and the Jazz Club Baby!! Up there with EIGER SANCTION.

And I'm wearing those sunglasses indoors cool

Ain't got a Scooby about the 10' either Jim.
Weird there's no track list/details or info on the book.

That perfectly sums it up... in fact, that's how I "used" it.

I like much of this album. However, imo, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and A Fistful of Dollars just don't work in a jazz setting.

Yes, I think some scores by Jerry Fielding would have been a better pick than trying to jazz-ify those Morricone Spaghetti Western themes.
