New trailer dropped and I'm inclined to believe it could have been scored by Sato as it's similar to some of his other work. Plus, he's worked with this director before. Looking forward to the film and score in December.
He definitely scored it. I'm curious as to what he brought to the table.
My guess would be a score that at the very least will touch on Akira Ifkube theme from the original film much in the same way he used the original themes in the live action YAMATO movie.

I for one can wait to see this one.
Ford A. Thaxton
I'm hoping he uses this music. It underlines both the sheer mass of destruction Godzilla is capable of as well as the searing loss of life and ramifications of his existence. This just became my most anticipated film going experience of 2023.

I've listened to the teaser several times. There is a choral thing happening right at the beginning starting with a gliss up in the sopranos. They continue with what sounds like an aleatoric figure (hard to discern with the sound FX). The main body of the music is a 4 note figure played en masse with some great string suspensions in the upper register. It's both tragic and horrifying sounding. I hope Sato uses it in his full score.

He's a solid composer hands down, especially considering this isn't the first time he tackled Godzilla. I have complete faith he composed something stellar.
Yes, I've been following news on this for a good while. A new Japanese Godzilla film!...my heart soars!! Loved the tone of SHIN GODZILLa so hopefully this will follow the same ( it sure looks as if it does).
I have no particular attraction towards the film (I know it's sacrilege to some here, but I've never really been a GODZILLA buff and have really only enjoyed the US versions, both the Emmerich film and the new ones). BUT....Sato is one of the best composers around, and could possibly deliver something bold and beautiful for this. So that part, I'm curious about.

It’s only sacrilege you enjoyed the Emmerich film.

As a kid I enjoyed the sillier kaiju films but the ones I still watch are more serious in tone like Gojira, DaiMajin, and War of the Gargantuas. The 90s Gamera series was also pretty slick too. So I’m looking forward to the tone of this film more than the recent fare. The American movies I never got into. They don’t really “get” kaiju films IMO. You’d have to have way back to The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms for me. I enjoyed Gorgo as well.
The Gamera series are some of the coolest and darkest kaiju genre films around. I do hope that Toho and Daiei Film could see the potential to give an update to a talented Japanese filmmaker. The Dark Horse comic books were also quite cool.

I just got through watching the Gamera films again. "Gamera vs. Barugon" is still my favorite. I mentioned this elsewhere, but Chuji Kinoshita scored over 300 films when he scored "Barugon". He scored around 412 films in total.

Gamera 3 was the first kaiju film where it had many shots of complete devestation on humanity after Gamera's link was severed. He didn't care anymore about humans, so long as he destroyed all of the Gayos. It was pretty shocking to see people incinerated with his plasma balls as he attempted to destroy the Gayos.
