I dont quite understand the difference between these new ones and the "old" ones (which isnt really old).
Is there big difference between the old/new ones?

Both versions of the movies are still available on their site and is the new ones better sound?

The old releases were taken from mono music stems from the movie's audio mix.

These new releases are from the rediscovered original master tapes in stereo, with alternate takes and unused cues.

That’s right except that the previous versions were in stereo also (except Part 4). Parts 1-5 of the previous editions were sourced from the movie steems - music as edited to the movie (like an isolated score) fortunately in the case of these films there were not much edits to the music and it was used mostly as intended, but there are fade outs and some unused bits that had been omitted in the films and are only included in the new editions.

The new editions are from recently discovered scoring sessions multitracks, which have been remixed and do sound much better (including the complete scores as recorded for the films).

Trying to remember if the actual film version of the funky main titles has been released before.
I think there was a slightly different version for the album.

The film version of the main titles is just an edit of the title theme. Though it seems its an edit of the the rare, extended 45rpm version and not the version that has been previously available on LP and CD. Some of the edits are a little clunky but the way the prologue music transitions to the main titles over the lingering shot of Mrs Voorhees withered head was killer! It also ends with that great ticking sustain.
I just wish that could have been replicated on this new album.

Ah okay. Weird. I was kinda expecting more versions of the disco theme in the alternates.

The track "Rock Bottom" is the B side of the 45 rpm. I've never heard it but I don't think it's used in the film. Though I could be wrong.

Isn't that just the A side extended version Theme From Friday the 13th Part 3?
This is getting confusing

So is the “Rock Bottom” on this new set the “jazz number by Hot Ice” (that was mislabeled according to the description in the YouTube video above) or is it the extended 12” mix of the main title by Hot Ice and it’s actually called “Rock Bottom”?

Confusing indeed. Brian Satterwhite, Can you help us out?

It could be that "Rock Bottom" on this new CD is in fact the extended remix, only miss labeled? The track timing would certainly indicate it!
It would be odd that the B side be included and not the relevant cut from side A.

NOTE: There is confusion regarding the labelling, as some copies of the single (such as mine) contain the following:
SIDE A - Theme From "Friday The 13th Part 3" [3:17]
SIDE B - Theme From "Friday The 13th Part 3" (12" Extended Mix) [5:14]
Except that SIDE B is mislabelled "Rock Bottom," not the Extended Mix, and is incorrect. The track "Rock Bottom" is a jazz number from Hot Ice.

At the time of posting this video, I I thought this track was "Rock Bottom," because that's what's written on the label, hence the label displayed for most of the video is wrong, it's not "Rock Bottom".

Sorry for the confusion, but blame the record company for the misprint.

It might actually BE the extended mix. Maybe it was mislabeled in more than one place, hence the label on the record itself being mislabeled, and now maybe on the LLL release. Or maybe it was not mislabeled at all and "Rock Bottom" is indeed the title of the extended mix.

Unless someone in the know chines in, I guess we will all find out next week.

Just got this in (on Friday the 13th - perfect timing lol) - per the liner notes:

"Every single has to have a B-Side! To complete the absurdity of the "joke", Manfredini included an extended version of the main title theme credited to his friend Ed Newmark - who concocted the original idea to compose a quasi-dance piece as the main title to Part 3. The result is "Rock Bottom" (get it?) which has no cinematic connection to the Friday universe other than serving as the B-side to the fictitious band Hot Ice's debut release."
