EDIT: just realized I was beat to the punch. EDIT (again): Seems Datzman is one of Giacciano’s orchestrators and done work on short subjects where Giacciano had tackled the source material. Good for her for getting a break. I hope this isn’t just a cut and paste job of Gia’s previous work and she gets to write with a voice of her own.
I recently re-watched INSIDE OUT, and still think it's a wonderful movie. I hope the sequel will be up to it; fortunately, the trailer looks promising enough.

I'm not generally a Giacchino fan, but I happen to love his Inside Out score.
Datzman's score is a little more raucous and rock-based, appropriate as Riley is now a teenager. To me, it lacks some of the charm and emotional punch of the first score, but a couple of the new themes are appealing.
I like it too. I was thrown for a loop when I first heard the rock elements, but came to really like it and think its integrated really well. I haven't seen the film yet, and am holding off on having a second listen until I do.

I thought the score worked well in the movie...and the movie was great...such a great visualization of internal struggles we all go though...so completely relatable.
Currently listening this and really enjoying it! The score definitely feels like it's developed for the teenage years, and I agree it's not quite as emotional as Inside Out, but I think that's the case for the film itself as well. I hope Andrea Datzman gets more high-profile work, because based on this, I think she has something fresh to offer!
