Hello. I'm searching for Christian soundtracks of the last 20 years, about saints and holy people. I have listened of course to The Passion of Christ, which I find sublime.
Others I have listened to: Last Days in the desert Paul, Apostle of Christ Libres (Free) Luther The Gospel of John Vision - Aus dem Leben der Hildegard von Bingen AKA Vision: From the Life of Hildegard von Bingen The Young Messiah The Nativity Story
I don't watch recent movies, so I'm not sure if I've left out any good ones. I'd appreciate any input.
Two other scores released on CD within your specified time period that come to mind are Horner's "For Greater Glory" and Beltrami's "Soul Surfer."
And while some of the many independent Christian films in recent years have had soundtrack releases, those discs tend to be more song-based than orchestral. (Although Mark McKenzie has provided some very nice scores to Christian-themed films, with a couple of commercial releases among them.)
But if you'll stretch a bit beyond your 20-year time limit, you could enjoy such wonderful scores as Jarre's "Jesus of Nazareth", Zimmer (& Co.) "Prince of Egypt", Morricone's "The Mission" -- plus of course all those Biblical epics of the 40s and 50s!!

Thanks! Of course I have listened to all those. I'll seek the other 2 you mentioned.
BENEDETTA - Anne Dudley NOAH - Clint Mansell PADRE PIO - Ennio Morricone TERESA - Federico Jusid KINGDOM OF HEAVEN - Harry Gregson-Williams IL DIARIO DI UN PRETE - Marco Werba THE GREATEST MIRACLE - Mark McKenzie JERUSALEM - Michael Brook MAGNIFICAT - Nathaniel Mechaly CLARET - Oscar M. Leanizbarrutia CALVARY - Patrick Cassidy JESUS - Patrick Williams (from 2000, so a little earlier than 20 years, though)
Of course, you know about these from previous recommendations. Carlo Siliotto's DAVID is pretty good, but that's from the 90s. And you obviously know Carl Davis' KING DAVID and that kind of stuff.
Love this score! There was two soundtracks. One with just the score (THE BIBLE - mini series) and one with both score and songs (SON OF GOD - a movie version of the same series).
The movie is about the life of the first Korean birth catholic priest.
Other scores in this theme from the past 20 years:
Il bambino di Betlemme - Marco Frisina Chiara e Francesco - Marco Frisina Giovanni Paolo II. - Marco Frisina San Pietro - Marco Frisina Luther - Richard Harvey Il papa buono - Ennio Morricone Swiadectwo -Vangelis, Robert Janson The Ten Commandments - Randy Edelman There Be Dragons - Robert Folk
Also, while not saints, biblical figures or priests, I would add Hacksaw Ridge (Rupert Gregson-Williams) and A Hidden Life (James Newton Howard) to the list as movies featuring deeply Christian characters.
Just listened to a nice "religious" score by an unknown composer to me. Teresa, El Cuerpo De Cristo by Angel Illarramendi. I particularly love the pastoral theme in tracks 6, 15 and 20.
I don't know if anyone has anything else to contribute.
oh, another very good score is Sister Mary explains it all, by Sarde, for a comedy actually, but the music doesn't remind anything of a comedy. It's quite religious sounding with some chorus parts too. Again, I love a pastoral sounding cue in track 4, after the vocal part.

Illarramendi is one of my favourite composers, and I have pretty much everything he's done. I particularly recommend YOYES and LOS BORGIA for some similar sentiments, especially "Funeral de Juan" from the latter. He's always very good at those pastoral/religoso/bittersweet things; it's not for nothing that he's called the current-day Delerue, even if he (sadly) isn't as active as he used to - at least not in terms of film music.

Yes, that's a good one. I actually did a thread on it just two months ago, a fairly recent discovery of mine too:
