I'm a huge fan of this movie - so beautifully crafted. Sheet music of the main theme printed in 1979 was a song arrangement titled "Take Me In Your Heart", which I'm playing here (but will stop short of singing the lyrics)
The piano arrangement for The Right Stuff is a tad sparse, but still very enjoyable to play. In my Conti sheet music binder, this piece is immediately followed by North And South. I usually enjoy playing them back to back - classic Varese style haha
I remember Rozsaphile had requested somebody record this arrangement several years ago. Better late than never! I really do love this theme, I'm surprised (and grateful!) it was actually published.
