Well this is exciting..and unexpected. I'm going to be so curious to hear this as its a favourite film of mine but I've never been able to really hear anything but a little 'music' in it. I watched it recently again and was really listening this time but the line between music and sound design on this one is really blurred in my mind. I'll be buying it Day One though! Outstanding film ( in both forms!)
Yes ,great creepy movie...far behind the original of course but far ahead of the sequel of course ..and a great horror movie...even with Brad Douriv who ruins almost every pic .Can't remember the music though, cause this is one of those movies just like the first one as well in my opinion( that doesnt need a score!(...not even a Herrmann one)
This is only a pre-announcement. Waxwork has done CDs too at times (TCM II for example).
And possibly LLL will pick up the CD rights, which has also happened many times before.
I think it's too early to doom it as a vinyl-only release.
Best, Burnie
Well, in our defense, the odd are WAY against us. Waxwork hasn't done a CD since Barbie and I don't think they've done any CDs of their Subscription LP releases. And LLL has stated that most horror doesn't sell well (see the Bride of Chucky/Child's Play 2 discussion).
Like I said, the odds are against us so its safer to not get our hopes up.
There really isn't much music in the movie. It's mostly moody/ dark synth landscapes mixed with sound design. Perhaps this official release will contain more of De Vorzon's (unused) music. Speaking of the composer... I'd love to see his hypnotic their score to Looker (1981) someday.

You and me both. Much as I’m happy about this I’d have been more stoked if it had been LOOKER. Can’t help being intrigued by this release though. I think it's even meant to be a 2LP set why is just a head scratcher.

I'm curious about this release too - as I love dark synths. I was listening to Unlawful Entry (James Horner) yesterday while jogging (LOL), which also sounds moody for the most part. I reale love the long track 'Pete's Passion':
From what ive read here and there over the years, these soundtrack record releases seem to really be aimed at people who want the product…but weirdly not necessarily the music. They are usually artistic lavish looking products with the packaging and often coloured vinyl and folk possibly buy them as collectors pieces and maybe never even play them. Its all for the look. This would mean that cd releases that are therefore more about the music, aren’t that important and not their main customer base. Its like visting one of the Blu-ray forums where folk go on endlessly about ‘slip covers’ and don’t seem to give a damn about how the actual film looks!
“ Thanks for reaching out as of now we do not have plans to do so, but there is a possibility. Let me know if you have any further questions.”
Not what I wanted to hear. Keep sending requests for CDs!
I just got the same reply from Xavier as well. with the small difference being that he said "but there is *always* a possibility. Haha, never give up hope!
